Is a drop neccessary when adding rims?

I noticed some hondas will look better when a drop is added in conjunction with rims. Is a drop neccessary to achieve that look? I dont wanna spend too much money for a drop plus rims so I'm deciding whether to get 17 or 18 inch rims. Can you guys give me any suggestions on what size to buy so my car will not look funny?

Not if the aftermarket wheels and tires are the same size as the stock ones, then it will look the same.

I have 17s with 215/45/17 tires, and it looked fine. Theyre not really racing style rims though, my car has more of a VIP look to it.

well i would suggest to get 17's inches rim and get a 1.75inches drop is really sexy. unless you want your car to stay a bit high then go with 18's and get a 1inch drop or coilover to adjust to your needs which cost alot. it your choice man but rim with a drop is nice.

Like the VIP trend in Japan. It doesnt look like its meant for extreme performance or race, just really luxurious and clean looking. Mine looks like a lil baby Benz or Lexus or something...just a lot more expensive and classy looking than it really is haha.

Well, the drop look is up to you. Personally, I hate the stock wheel gap.

Here are pics of my ride (different rims on each pic, but you get the idea).

I think you can figure out which one is the lowered pic.

I have 17s (215/45/17) with no drop yet. Doesn't look bad but my subs weigh down the back a lil. When I had my friends in my car I had no finger gap, so I'm worried about a drop. I'll prolly get it dropped eventually though. Here's a pic.

you pay for what you get. Don't get shitty springs, you'll only cause more problems for yourself. Personally, I'd save and buy a better spring/shock combination before I spent crazy money on wheels.

Dropped on stockies looks a hell of a lot better than just rims at stock hieght.

I realize that but he mentioned wanting 17 or 18 and that would make his car look like a 4X4

I have 17" wheels and stock suspension. I don't think my car looks terrible, but it is kinda funny looking with that huge gap between the tire and fender. I'll lower it eventually, as soon as i figure out how to do so without voiding my warranty. For some reason, even if you get your new tires so that the overall diameter of the wheel/tire doesn't change, it still looks higher with bigger wheels and smaller tires. If you have no intention of ever dropping your car, i'd prolly stick with 16" wheels.

it depends on the time of rims you have on your car now. IMO, if you have stock alloys, i think it looks good. i guess it would then come down to...what do you want more? rims or a drop? there is a post you should look at on here, search for "official drop post" or something along those lines...it will give you an idea of the springs people use and rims they have. my ride looked like phuviano's ride when i had 17s and no drop and i don't suggest that! good luck!

I prefer the look of the dropped look but roads are bad..even at stock it scrapes some of my friend's driveway..

I would say your best bet with 17's would be a Eibach pro-kit for a 1" drop or the Eibach Sportlines (1.7"). If you choose 18's then get the Sportlines. Also, you may want to think about aftermarket dampers/struts if you go lower than the Pro-Kit. There are many choices out there. I have heard good things about Neuspeed springs as well. It comes down it is your car, do what you want. Rims make the biggest change to the appearance though.
Here is my car on 17 inch 5Zigen Copse without drop and after drop. Sorry about the poor angles

Can someone tell me exactly what I need to buy for a one inch drop? Where I can get them? How much will
the parts cost?
