Auto Gearing

i was browsing other car forums and it seems like they all have gears, which help improve low end. my question is, is there any type of gearing that we can get to improve our auto trannies lowend? i just wish it would stay in a higher rev range and in the same dam gear when in traffic. i hate it when it shifts like 3 times before 40mph

well you can use d3, thats the only way to keep it from shifting 4th. i think the trans is terrible at shifting. i try and get on the ramp after a quick turn and its already in 3rd you just gotta try and figure out when to let off the gas so it stays in gear altho its really strange sometimes if i dont have alot of throttle the car will just bog in 3rd and then start going again. dont even get me started. its a terrible trans in every possible way. grade logic...thats for next time.

well to do it right you would need to overhaul the trans and get a new torque converter to raise the stall rpm about 500

yea i know i can keep it from shifting into 4th but what i really wanted was to just stay in gear longer. ahh well. my tranny is having a hard time catching through the 1st 3 gears currently 192000 miles on a 03. im joinin the club gearbox! its so dam jerky it pisses me off

ricergribbs is an unknown quantity at this point
if you're going around 35-70 shift it down to "2". i wouldn't recommend doing it over 60 since the revs jump really high and it's just not good for the tranny. now if you're over 70 and you need some higher revs, drop it to d3. if you're going under 35... well you're screwed. unless you floor it right before 30 then it actually down shifts automatically.
