Oil Filter Relocation?

Hey, I was wondering if any of you guys have installed a filter relocation kit on your cars? I had one on my del sol and was just curious if anyone on here had one yet. Peace.

Intruder,

I was contemplating a relocation kit for the last few weeks, but haven't figured out where to mount it yet. Free space is extremely limited under the hood of the 01/02 Civic. So far, the best location seems to be under the battery, but I'm going to wait until my CAI is in first to see how much room is left in that area. I'm pretty sure we need a 20mm x 1.5 adapter to screw on the oil filter location. That's what many Hondas use, but double-check before you buy one. From there you will need the appropriate hoses, clamps, and oil filter base etc.

Good luck.

Why would you want to do this? All I'm planning on with my oil filter is this adapter from Greddy that allows me to plug in mechanical guages for oil pressure and oil temperature and some big magnets that wrap around the oil filter to remove more of those nasty microscopic engine chips.

Grey, I can't speak for anyone else but the reason I was thinking about this mod is to simplify filter access. I hate removing the oil filter (w/ front wheels on ramp) and spilling oil. It's a very minimal spill, but nonetheless it happens every time. I stuff paper towels under the filter to avoid getting any on the block (it's clean enough to eat off the engine).

Let us know when that Greddy ported oil filter adapter is available. Seems like a good way to connect oil temp and pressure meters.

Yeah, I get you. I spill oil when I take that filter off too. Minor inconvenience though. I did dirty my garage floor last time though. Hum...

About the Oil Filter Block Adapter... Check out the product at the bottom of this page: Greddy Oil Cooler Kits

I think it's out already. I saw it for $50 I think. It says Honda's, so maybe all Honda's can use this thing right off the bat? I wonder what that bigger bolt is for?

i'm with grey don't understand why you'd relocate your filter..
it's not like you don't still have to climb under your car to get to the drain plug.

A wrap around magnet, sounds neat. I know they used to sell those magnetic drain plug things, but on the filter would be neat.

I have no idea? I wish I knew. When I need to buy it I'll call Greddy and ask them myself. Call them and find out for yourself. I bet that it does fit, but I can't be 100% sure until I call myself.

I guess we should ask a Honda technitian if the threads on the 6th gen oil filter are the same as the ones on the 7th gen oil filter then.
