blacked out taillights LEGAL? ok i live in jersey and i cant find anywhere if taillights are legal when darkened. i want to know if there is a vision distance needed, or a % needed, any good help will be rep'd and thanked

Rep Power: 292 well i had blacked out taillights when you stepped on the brake you could easily see it... BUT got a ticket and was told by a cop that since there is no red reflector showing it is not legal...
im in NY.
now i see cars with it all the time.. so whether the cop was just busting my chops or not... thats another story.
