Removing the trunk...

Need a lil assistance, I'm in the process of attaching a flip trunk hinge however I'm having trouble removing the plastic zip ties that hold wiring and tension line for trunk lock. The zip ties insert into the trunk arms. To remove them correctly one must squeeze the sides of the attachment together and push out of the arm. The space is very small to reach in and get to the attachment. If ya'll know what I mean what would ya'll suggest? thanx
