not sure if there is another forum for this kind of stuff, but there didnt seem to be.
What percent tint do you guys have on you cars? Do you now what brand of film you have? I'm not a film expert so I need to know what some good film brands are. I dont want my tint to turn purple in 6 months. I was also thinking of 20% all the way around. Opinions?

I have 5% all the way around. Stay away from the cheap places that offer cheap priced tint. Also stay away from ones that are too expensive. I have llumar and it has lasted me over 3 years with no problems. there is also diamond nichrome which is really really good. But also very expensive. But I compare llumar to it. and is half the price.

going 25%-30% is a safe bet in most areas.. the darker your car the darker the tint you can use so if you got silver or white i say go with 30% ... if you got black or midnight blue go with 15%

also remember your interior color matters too. my friend got 15% tints on his 96' and he got a green car with light grey interior and its no where near as dark as my car with black interior. also a my friend has a EBP with the tan interior and 20% all around and it looks like 35% lol

get good tint and it wont bubble. wonder if you can use like night shades on a window... dont think it would stick to glass. someone should try it out lol.
yeah, if you go to a good place to have it done, then you shouldn't have to worry about bubbles or anything. I would ask them how they apply it. They should use a heat gun and shrink for the best application. Get 20% on there and you will love it, I promise! It's not so dark where it messes with your vision, but also, it gives you privacy in the car. Keep us updated!

20 all around and a winshield strip. 155 for all of it. illegally done. 20 is the ****. 5 is cop magnetism. 30 is stock on 03M cars. so good luck. if you want pics, its in my profile
6% limo all around with window strip and it Looks Sick. Had 6% on the rear 3 with 20% on the front doors and I hated the mismatch so had it removed and matched with 6% again. I did SolarGard tint on my past 2 rides and excellent quality stuff. The privacy is well worth the 6% hate people staring at me
i did 32% all around..dont like the different % tint look like they have on cars that come with tint. its some wierd kinda tint called i believe Quartz which was the higher quality tint than the other option, which is the film where it has the mirror finish instead of the usual black finish. your tint should turn purple as long as you dont use any amonia(sp?) window cleaner. also have lifetime warranty so it helps alot. will post pics when i get the chance

post some pics of your car - with such a difference between the windows, it would make a good comparison!
Within a few weeks i want to get mine done... I had dark tint on my 91 civic, blacked out tail lights as well, and I was never hassled by the police for it.
(it's officer discreation)
But looking at some of these pictures, sometimes 20% seems too dark and 35% seems to light... those are my options unless I go lower to 15, 10, 5... there is no 25-30

well ive got 32% all around. will try to get some pics tommorrow after i wash my car and clean it up a bit. its def not dark nor light its like...perfect. its def dark when u walk away and look at it but when yer up close its pretty good. i paid $199 for my tint w/ lifetime warranty. keep on the look out for pics tommorrow. one thing i didnt like when they were doin it was that they were talkin apart the front door panels to put the tint on other than that i didnt mind
quality tint is no good with a quality install. you can get the best tint on the market and have some random guy tint your car with it. the thing with home owned tint shops is that their either really good or bad. ask to see some of their work and ask them how they will install it from the rear windshield to the doors. the more questions you have, the more time they will pay attention to your tint job.
i had my tint done for 150 all around on my coupe from a home owned store and i regret it after seeing my friends cars tint. he got his hatchback tinted for $200 all around and the installers had very quality tint and even took the time to remove his door panels and remove the glass of the front doors to tint it...i honestly think it doesnt get better than that.
as for what percentage, check with your local state laws and stick around that area. i honestly think 30% all around is perfect if you have the average human being eye vision. but us eagle eye folks has 20" up front and limo in back

Got some quality Madico film too.

Does anyone else hate the light area on the edges of tinted windows? It makes the car look cheap imo!! I have those with 35% tint... I wish there was a way to get rid of it.
How I see it in mmost states:
35% Legal-no worries
20%-very few worries
15%-few worries, still leaning towards the green-if you have a sent of cheba in your car, this is as far as I would go,
10%-worry, prob gonna get pulled over
5%-gonna get pulled over
35%-all they way around, including front windshield, gives the effect of like 15% on the sides, if you do get pulled over only have to take off front
But, if you know the right people you can get out of a ticket for like $40 and remember you do not have to worry about cops and tint as much in the rain.
