Help! Side Skirt Mounting Brackets! Help!!!

Ok, so the story goes..

I was installing my OEM sides. I put on the right-side sideskirt perfectly.

i'm sure most of you guys are familiar with installing sides. For OEM sides, there are the metal sheet brackets, that you put double side tape on, then you stick that bracket onto the side of the car. after that, you slide on the actual sideskirt and it should fit like a glove.

well.....

I messed up when putting the left side brackets for the sideskirt. It was JUST a tad too high (and the door wouldn't open since it was hitting the side), so i had to pull off the brakcets again. well, in doing so, the tape was so damn strong, that the only way to take off the brakcets, was basically unintentionally bending them and messing them up. they're both very bent.

So does anyone know of a place I could purchase the sideskirt metal brackets? i just need two. i'm currently driving with just one sideskirt on the right!

I went to the Honda dealership, and they're parts counter guy said that they can only sell the brackets as part of the entire sideskirt package which is $431 from the dealer. he said they can't sell the brackets by themsevles, since it all comes as a package. i find this incredibly retarded.

handaaccessories.com doesn't carry them.

anyone know where i could them get? I WOULD SO INSANELY APPRECAITE IT!

the brackets are available seperate from the side skirts as a "hardware kit" which was made available in june. They dont sell an of the hardware seperately.

i brought my oem lip kit off my friend but he kept the brackets for the side skirts. i went to the honda dealership and they told me the same thing... i gotta buy the whole kit. well anyways, my dad and i went to the hardware store and found some pieces taht we made into brackets. basically the part we brought looked like edging for walls or doors. i dont know how to explain it, but it worked. so just go to the hardware store and look around or try the rubber hammer like someone said.

jepetto: i got mine used from someone else too. but the brackets were in perfect condition, with the exception that one side of the brackets was of course, already used with tape on it. but the brackets themselves weren't bent out of shape at all. i used the red dbl sided tape as well, from home depot. and that's the main reason why i had the hardest time taking the brackets off, since the tape is so damn strong! thanks for your input

skipbarber: i was wondering about that, "hardware kit" . so what do you suggest? go to the dealership and ask for the hardware kit to the lip kit? or would you happen to know a place that sells them? you're post is most important. thanks

dailydriver: i was thinking about fabricating my own brackets, but i wanted to try and see if i could just buy them from somewhere. skipbarbers post makes me think that there indeed is a hardware kit for sale somewhere. i dont know if its the dealership though. i'll probably try to hammer out the brackets though first too.

thanks for all your guys' help so far.

any mor ehelp would be greatly appreciated

you're talking about the part where the inside of the sideskirt hangs off the car. go to HOME DEPOT, go to the DOOR aisles, look for DOOR SILL EXTENSIONS. they're metal, 1/2 inch wide, 1 1/4 tall, 42 inches long. you'll need 2 of them and cut one of them by about half. since you're in home depot get 2-3 rolls of exterior double sided tape from 3M. i've had to do the exact same thing that you posted where i've had to bend it to get it off.

for the "S" brackets, just get them from honda. they sell them by the side, so you need to buy two. they come in black instead of rusty seized-bolts greyish look.

i need the 2 front brackets that go at the front of each skirt, and when i went to the dealer they didnt have any. So they called honda america and it turns out the hardware is available as a complete hardware kit only. Meaning you can't just buy a bracket or two, you have to buy everything that comes in the kit. I hope they change that soon. I found this out early in the summer, and It wasn't available at the time. I'd go with Xenins advice, far cheaper alternative.

Didn't mean to bring this old thread back to live, but I'm having a similar situation with my side skirts. They are just seating at home since I don't the hardware kit. I haven't tried to make custom brackets yet, so I was wondering..

Does anyone has the part number for the hardware kit?

By the way, I've searched, called Honda and searched again...and nothing..
