Slipping clutch

Hello

I'm a newbie and I like to say how a kool this place this is... One of my favorite web site

I've bough a use honda civic 2002 with a manual transmission, I gotta say, driving manual is really fun

My question :
I read on some sites that slipping a clutch is very bad. So what happenning to the car when your doing it?
How do u avoid splipping a cluch...

Understand that this is my first manual car, so yes I've stalled at red ligths...Something i will never forget :P

04|5spdCivic can only hope to improve
when you ride the clutch really long, letting out the clutch really slow while giving it more gas to get going from a stop. try to make it as quick and crisp as posible without tweaking the tires.
