Rep Power: 303 Without a hydraulic lift, it's going to be a difficult if not impossible job to install the exhaust. If you have a lift, it's relatively easy, but the brackets that hold the muffler up can be a pain since you normally need to do some welding. With a good exhaust system, you could expect a 5-8 hp increase if you're lucky.

Rep Power: 0 since we are in the cat-back topic, let me ask this
is there any difference between a full cat-back system and a custom pipe with a performance muffler?
which is cheaper? full cat or custom?

Rep Power: 303 I trust a full cat more. A custom setup is designed by a shop who typically doesn't do as much research and development as big names like Greddy who make exhaust systems specific to your car. You might actually decrease backpressure with the wrong setup and hurt your performance. Custom exhaust can vary in price depending on the shop.

Rep Power: 0 go to a shop that does ONLY exhaust installs, usually the owner of the shop knows what he's doin. Local guy here can install full catback piping with ur choice of muffler for $100- the cost of the muffler. Great deal IMO, All of us go to his shop to have our exhausts done.

Rep Power: 0 Oh btw, in any case, greddy, apexi, hks will still always have better catbacks, but if you are looking for sound/moderate performance and not all out racing then a local shop installed catback will be fine

Rep Power: 0 ANY mandrel bent straight through muffler equipped cat-back will give you between 5 and 7% increase in horsepower
It all depends on the starting Hp#'s ....Custom made systems are also pretty good , the only downfall is the shop will not be able to provide a mandrel-bent one piece-pipe, the can "manufacture" there own mandrel-bent system by using "universal" j and u bends, basically cutting and welding several sections as necessary. Most shops won't even do this though, they use "hydraulic" benders that reduce pipe diameter wherever they need to make a "turn" in the system.
