Tornado power?????
I was up late watching TV came across this ad, looks like it works and the website showed actual dyno test for improved power. BUt I am still skepticle, does anyone have this already check out the website its www.tornadofuelsaver.com
Ok, just for kicks I ordered a Tornado for my 2K1 EX automatic. The logical place to put it was in the throat of the air cleaner box, right down on top of the throttle body. The little gizmo was sized just right to fit there. I just put it in deep enough so it wouldn't interfere with the butterfly.
So I get it installed and tried it out. There is a long increasing incline hill near here where my Civic auto has always kicked down a gear or touque converter unlocked on cruise control set for 70 MPH before I get to the top. Well I tried that hill twice under those conditions with the Tornado in and the trans never kicked down. That may be saying a little something. As for Gas mileage, I ran out the half tank I had and filled up yesterday. When I get a mileage reading, I'll report back here.
The vortexidea makes sense, but I think the unit should be installed as close to the throttle body as possible. It seems to me that putting it out in the intake hose would defeat the purpose.
We shall see.

that thing is basicaly a joke.....i dont think it does much, for it to be effective it would have to be in the intake manifold....then you would see some improvement.....a little storry dont try to make your own!!!! a kid by me made his own for his Talon TSi and it got sucked into the motor......not good at all, and the sad part is the car was already damn fast.
The Tornado spins the air that enters the intake pipe and sends it rushing into the intake
manifold......... so in end adding more horse and better gas......
I believe it helps a little but not noticeable in performance..... but i do get 20 to 30 more
mpg depending on my driving habits.........
So in conclusion it does work...... (in my case) it's not a big performance increase but every little
bit helps ya know

BARTKAT you should move the tornado to near ur filter.......... i put mines near my filter......
because than the tornado will have enough room to work correctly.
Gtec,
You mean put the Tornado at the inlet of the air cleaner box?
I figure the closer to the throttle, the better. The air deflectors that go on the small block GM's go right where the air goes into the EFI box.
Tornado instructions puts the unit, after the filter. On my EX the only place it will fit is in the throat above the throttle body.

Drove "normally" with a couple of 90 mile highway round trips with the Tornado and contiued to get 32 MPG. I don't see any power differences. I had the Tornado right above the throttle body at the place where the air exits the air cleaner box and narrows down to the small pipe into the TB. Seeing no gains of losses, I finally took the Tornado out and put it on the shelf where I put other stuff that I have taken off the car or stuff that I don't consider reall useful.
Wow, any you spent what, over $75 + s/h? Don't worry, I did something almost similar. I bought an oil filter heat sink and the oil filter magnet, both from jcwhitney. No real decrease in temp on the gauge, and no need for the magnet, OEM filters have a magnet in them already. Though I'm sure the oil filter heat sink would work only going long distances, like coming back from Vegas on a hot summer day, going up hill. I remember my temp gauge on the 95 civic jumped up, but went back down.
Anyways, glad to finally get some results back for the Tornado, pure BS, eh?
