Body Kit Question?
ok well I'm new to this scene( I got my car only 3 days ago lol!!) and I had a couple of questions about body kits. Ok well whats better fiberglass or urethane? I live up in the North East so if I were to get a body kit would the winter weather screw-up my kit? Another thing that I heard was that during the cold months, if you have a fiberglass body kit the paint would chip of the bumpers if it got that cold. If that true, do urethane bumpers do the same? Also if you could recommend any sites that you have bought kits from and haven't had any problems with the quality of the material. Thanks.

urethane bends instead of breaking. fiberglass snaps kinda easy.
urethane doesn't have to be custom fit on to your car as much.
urethane costs more.
choices, choices... i'd go urethane though

urethane if you realllly want and need a nice body kit. It's extremely pricey but as they ^^^^ said it's worth every penny. However the cons are as follows: 1. Price(already mentioned) 2. Higher cost of painting the son of a bit(h (urethane doesnt like standard primer) 3. weight (heavy as fu(k). If you just want your car to look nice and want girls to be wet when they see your car then just get fiberglass, it does the job. Also you have to ask yourself couple of questions... will you drop your car, will you race your car, will you show off your car to the public (car shows etc.)
Fiberglass isn't as bad as everyone says. I just moved to California and with the ride height of my car it isn't the best. Every parking lot and drive way here seems really deep. If you lower your car you will be asking for trouble in the snow with a body kit. You will be a snowplow if you can catch my drift. The price of the kit isn't really what should concern you but the paint and the mount. When it all comes down to it look at spending a couple bills. ANd don't be one of those guys that buy a kit and can't afford the paint and mount but put it on anyhow. It looks gay. If you can't afford the whole thing don't mount it.
Sometimes, I can see right through myself ...

I bought a fiberglass kit in December. Still haven't put it on yet, because I need to get my car fixed.
I don't see a problem with the kit at all. It seems *very* solid. It looks like it has a very hard gel coating on it, so it should be fine to a few little dings and whatnot here and there.
I think the key is to buy a *true* kit, instead of knockoffs on eBay and whatnot. The people that make copycat kits don't really care as to how well it looks and whatnot. That's why I bought my kit directly from BuddyClub2. So it should be quality.

I bought th esame kit a few years ago and all i have is a crack in the front and a chip in rear. My car sits way too low for California. Underrated springs and a heavy stereo will lower the car a bit.
mine was around 800 painted and mounted and i didn't see my car for about 2 weeks.
Not a job to install by ones self unless you are good at manipulating fiberglass and have painting skills. that coating you are talking aobut will come off when it is painted. they have to sang and fill and sand and fill and paint and sand and the process goes on and on. you dont' just paint how it is. it has to be preped for paint and such. it isn't like it is direct bolt on either.

Oh and another thing. My friend has a F-150 and he got a new front bumper for it. He said that the fiberglass was too weak and if he ever got into a crash he would be screwed. So they reinforced it by puting steel behind it or something to that nature. I know that would weigh the car down but should you do something like that?

. anyways i was in an accident with by body kit... someone rear ended me and the bumber cover cracked real bad, but it was fixable.
