Well, the kit is sagging and it's pissing me off. The tape doesn't stick. We bolted the kit on through the fenders and under the car near the pinch welds so it holding okay but the top part of the kit has a gap and (to me) it looks nasty. I think we're gonna take the front and rear bumbers off and drill some self-tapping screws into the kit from behind the bumber. That should fix it for the front and the back.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do for the sides?

Yeah, here is an idea
take the kit off
remove old 2 sided tape
clean the serface really good
reinstall with a better 2 sided tape

Another thing don't do self tappers when they rust the kit will sag again.Give me two days, becuase my kit is being put on right now and I will ask the guys at the shop, I know everything should be bolted even if it seems you cant.two way tape and self tappers are both bad. Two way tape is great except when you get on the freeway and then you have to stop and go get your parts of the highway. Its good for holding it in place so you can drill holes then use high quality stainless bolts nothing less. I think your kit looks good, just need to lower the car now.

your best bet is keep replacing the tape or glue(or epoxy)
your front bumper looks like they just copied the look of a gto. its cool tho.

oh yeah... otherwise pay a shop to rivet it on and then they can throw on some bondo where it meets the car and make it look seemless... blend right in it will look ten times better.

I think all molded kits eventually crack. Especially if you drive the car daily!

You have to cleant he surface SUPER GOOD. try wiping it down with GOO GONE. you will notice small amounts of clear come off where you wipe.(IT shouldnt be a problem since the kit will hide it). Hold the tape to the body for like a full minute with some strength.

My G5 sides and rear are taped on with the 3M doublesided (red backing/ grey inside) tape. Its stuck to the point im afraid i will rip paint off if i try to remove it forecfully.

My rear used to sage as well, especially in the heat. But cleaning the area with GOO GONE did the trick for me.

removing would require a heat gun.

the body shop that put my sides and rear on used 3M tape only before applying it to to the car the put some sort of solution on it which made the sticky stuff on the tape bond to the car and the sideskirts very well. when i took off my sideskirts this fall it was very very hard because the tape was holding on very well.

my suggestion, take it to a body shop and have them put it on professionally cuz when it comes to body kits where you want your car to have a showy look DIYs dont cut it.

I agree with hustle, find a repitable shop and just pay them, One good reason for this is if they are repitable and you ever have problems they'll take care of it, usually for free.

3M double sided tape doesn't bite in that well. Fusor is the best I've ever used. Wanna glue it, used Duramix 4050 super fast panal adhesive, it will never fall off again

you need to let the tape cure for a day before putting weight on it. Even if it means holding the side skirts up with some wood or support.

do not use glue or tape. The main support points of the kit has to be fixed with bold/screw etc. All body kit should come with supporting/mounting kit.

By the way your body kit is very nice.

ThANK YOU thats what I said you should never mount anything on the outside of a vehicle with 2way, The wind will rip it off!! use common sense, The shop thats doing mine told me that they using a stainless type of bolt that will flush mount, When I get a chance to get over there I will get pics of it.

If You're Able To, Use A Hot Glue Gun Behind The Kit/under The Bumpers. Won't That Work?

bolts and screws will leave holes in the body. I really dont see how ppl are saying negative things about 3M heavy duty double sided tape. You guys must not be using it right. I mean if Wings West puts it on thier kits stock. It has to be able to hold the kit properly.

before putting 3M tape make sure you clean both areas with rubbing alcohol to get the dirt of and it will stick better.

no, don't drill holes on the body kit for bolts...there should have some kind of mounting kit, for example a "L" shape metal plate that connects the under of the kit to the existing hole on the bumper.

Glue and tape are usually only for secondary enforcement, or perhaps they put tape on so that they don't need to hold the kit when they install the screw/bolt.

thanks

I think a few of you misread my initial post. I do have self-tapping screws that are drilled into the inside wheel well and below the car by the pinch welds. The tape helps adhere the top part of the kit to the bumber, that's where I'm getting gaps.

The kit is not being held on soley by a piece of tape, that would be silly.
