Sedan taillights help

I had trouble taking off the outer tails. I unscrewed all 3 bolts and one on the bottoms but when i tried to take it off it didn't seem like it wants to come off.

Did you remove your bumper? There is a retaining clip that needs to be removed on both sides that is located under the bumper. You have to remove the bumper to get the tails off.

Ok let me try to remember...there are 2 screws in the wheel well on each side. One is up towards the top and one is in the middle of the rear bumper where it connects to the wheel well. There are a few black clips underneath that just pop off. you pop out the middle then pull the whole clip off. Inside the trunk lid there are these 2 black plastic covers that you remove to reveal 2 10mm(i think) bolts. One on each side. Then you just pull.

Its not all that hard...Here are some pics but they are with my camera phone so they suck...

Thats in the wheel well the 2 screws

Thats under neath the trunk lid. The plastic covering the 2 bolts

Those are the black clips on the bumper I was talking about.

It took me with a friend about 5 minutes to get the bumper off. The lights were easy to put in once you get everything set up. then another 5 to put back on. Took us like 6 hours though because we smoked my tails too.

Good luck man PM me if you need anymore help

hi, i'm new and sorry to bump a old thread

does the yank and pull method work or was he just kidding??

all you have to take off is the plastic part of the bumper right.. about 4 screws/clips in total or what. i never work on a car before and this might be all new to me.. how heavy is the part of the bumper taken off..

i already removed/installed the trunk lid part of the lights already with no problem..

thanks in advanced.

Talking

I was able to remove the taillights but, yeah, that was a pain in the butt. It'd be better off if you take the bumper off before working on the lights.

I didn't yank it out because it was impossible to do that unless you want to break your lights or scratch your bumper. Look at the pic carefully, the black metal rack is the thing that keeps you from taking out the lights and it is connected to the frame. What I did was to loose the rack a little bit and tried to make enough room to let the lights slide out horizonally. Seems like taking the bumper off would be easier.

what did you do to loosen the rack.. seems like taking off the bumper would be more complicated for me..

i was thinking this, if i can squeeze out the top screw that holds one of the three bolts, then i can just life the lights out of it, the ones i want to put in will not have that thing on the bottom so i can just slide it in and secure the 3 bolts, why did honda make this so hard to do... i mean the ones on the trunk lid are much much easier...

Just take the bumper off, its easy man dont be lazy. Belive me i tried to do it that way, and it just made it harder for me. U gotta remove the bumper, theres 2 screws under the rear wheel well on both sides, then u take the 2 bolts covered with a small black oval shaped cover off with a 10mm i think. after that theres 2 more screw/caps under the rear bumper u take those out with a flathead, the yank and pull method works, but start from one side, and have someone hold it while u do the other side or itll fall off.and its not heavy at all.
after that u take screw off the rack thing, and u can take off the tail.

Also put in ur info so people can see where ur from, what kidna car u got etc. Maybe someones close to u and can help.

There's enough clearance. Once all the bolts and screws are off, just yank from the corner and it'll pop off.

Yeah you need to pull/push those parts that are held on by clips. Then once it's secure, start putting bolts and screws back on.
