I thought the coolant temp was actually the oil temp. Anyone wish to clarify this?

what exactly would you need a Water Temp, Oil Pressure,Oil temp, volt gauge for? Basically show? Seems to me the only useful gauge would be a boost gauge.

allmotor was right when he said Water Temp / Oil Pressure / Volt Gauge were the most useful...

Water Temp tells you if something has gone wrong in the coolant that is circulating thru your engine block (hose is leaking or blown off; water pump failure, etc.). When the gauge goes into the red, the block is overheating and you will have head gasket failure or worse the whole engine will fry.

Oil pressure tells you if the oil pump has stopped sending oil to the critical moving parts of your engine, and you know what that means. Oil pressure is so important that many drag/NASCAR cars don't even use a gauge--things happen so fast they use a giant red light to indicate oil pressure loss so the driver can shut down the engine ASAP to try to prevent damage to the engine.

Voltmeter is used to keep an eye on your alternator, which comes in handy if you have ICE. You can make sure the amps are getting the right voltage range. Even if you don't have ICE, it will tell you if the alternator is failing and your car is draining the battery.

here are the most sensible ones if u dont have a turbo:

1. Voltmeter - if u have a system, keep an eye on your battery levels

2. Air/Fuel Ratio - looks good at night, easy to hook up

3. Oil pressure - if u have VTEC, it jumps around when it kicks in

I have an 03 LX, and have a dual gauge pod with air/Fuel and a voltmeter, both as cool, but if I had VTEC I would have definitely got the triple pillar
