OEM '04 fog install??? HELP!

Has anyone done this? I can't seem to get them to fit in. I already broke a tab. I cut out the piece and filed the bits left down but it seems to big for the opening. Is there a trick? Thanks.

in that case you probably have to remove the bumper and install the light from behind the bumper.

omg, this is why you need to pay the 50 bucks to your dealership to have them installed. I was quoted 400 for the fog lights and 50 for the install. But i found the fogs onine for 200, so 50 for the install doesn't sound too bad. I wouldn't want to risk my bumper.

But I actually think you need to jam them in there, cause on the 04-05's i've seen they are in there pretty snug

You have to have the bumper off to install them no matter what, i know that. and NO, the hole is NOT too big, that's my problem, it seems to small but i know it's no because the old cut out on the other bumper is the same size. I'm trying to put them in for my bro, who took it out but doesn't remember how.

I don't mean to hi-jack your thread but I have OEM style fog lights on my 01 and a small rock on the freeway hit my fog light and broke through the fog light. So I have a broken light and I'm ordering a new one. Anyways my question is...Is there anything that can be done to protect my fog lights so that it doesn't happen again?

i think you can buy clear plastic protector for the headlights, but put that on your fogs.

Okay, installing the OEM fog lights will take about 2 hours.

- Remove the bumper cover, a screw where the fender and a headlight meet on each side. A couple of push clips that go on the underside and I think 2 10MM bolts Might be a few push clips on the top can't remember. Once you are sure all the bolts are off take a blanket or something on that nature and lay it on the ground partially under the cover. Pick a cover on the bumper and give it a little tug, should pop off.

- Look at the inside of the cover and cut the slots of you the fog lights, they should look like tabs, razor knife will get them.

-Line the fog light up and look where the bolt fits, make sure the tab on the fog light is in place to insure a good fit, tape it eyeball it from the outside, mark where the bolt lines up and drill the hole. Now the fog light can mount, even if you broke the tab the bolt will hold it well enough, double check though. If you plan on putting Honda's factory kit on it you have to break the tabs and cut the plastic around the fog light to make it fit so no worries.

Fun part, running the wire harness. If its the OEM kit then the civic is not wired up for the lights.

- Take the part of the harness that goes physically hooks into the fog lights, just clip them into a hole on the frame rail just to hold them there to give you a marker. Because if memory serves correct you have about 4 harnesses that connect together.

-Find the harness that plugs into the one you just marked off, plug it into it. Not sure here but I THINK you have to remove your passenger side fender liner (12 push clips). Snake the harness from there. Remove your glove box and the kick panel. Fit the harness through there Look around I can’t remember if it feeds from the bottom or the top. Difficult to find the hole probably blocked with a black ruber seal, if you find the right hole and sanke it through you'll see the harness from behind the glove box or kick panel.

- Okay now you have have to remove your center console. Slide the seeas all the way forward 4 screws in the back of the console unit. Put the seats back the way they were. Open up the console storage, remove the rubber bottom (flat head screw driver gets it) You’ll find 2 screws there. Can’t remember if there are anymore, I think some towards the front on the sides with pretty plastic covers over them. Play around and pry, be gentle the console should slide back, just pit it up over the shifter and the e-brake.

- The switch, goes to the left of your circle power supply thingy (forgot the name :-/ )
Self explanatory how it fits in. I think the switch will have two females, one fits the harness you ran behind the dash. Hook it up, now get the last harness (I believe) hook it to it.

- Remove the panel under your steering wheel, should just be twist screws, the remove the panel to the left of it exposing a **** load of wires. Now this is where memory fades really bad. BUT you cant screw it up because its impossible to hook any Honda wire harness to the wrong place they all only fit one way. You have to remove a green harness, plug the give adaptor to it then the harness you ran and hook it into the green you removed and I think you’re all done.

My instructions may be lacking serious detail or might be incorrect in a few areas but its not that bad. If you really want to go for all of that let me know and I can get you Honda’s official instructions for it, comes with pictures and step by step. Better than this sorry *** instructions. Good luck.

By the way Honda's base price is 193.20 I THINK, dealer retail should be 243.00 try not to pay more than that.

^ What he said............the only problem I have w/ my 01 aftermarket OEM style kit is the light to "activate" the switch is always on, and the "fog light icon" is only on when the lights are on. If this makes sense, it should be the opposite but I'm afraid to start cutting into the wires??????????

If the lights are off the switch shouldn't show active. But if your lights are on the fog lights should be on. If you have your high beams on the fog lights shouldn't be on. Then again it is aftermarket can't expect the world of it.
