Gauge pods?

Gauge pods?
OK i have a VP & am still looking for a tach solution. I am wondering how deep the pods are on the gauge bezel below. I have found and autometer tach that fits a 2 1/16 hole but requires that at most its 3" deep. Please help if you have any info. Also if you have any other souultions other than a gaudy 5" tach let me know as well.
