$180 later...

So I was washing my car and bumpin the stereo while i vacuumed it out...and then all of a sudden the freakin battery dies. So i had to get a jump and go down to sears and spend 180! on a freaking battery. I got an optima yellow top - you people told me that was what to get - so i did. I just wanna know if thats a good price or not??

I mean 180 for a battery!!! yikes!

or maybe im a cheapskate

WTF???? You got ripped off!!! Car batteries are like 50-60 dollars I have no idea what a 180.00 battery is going to do for you.

yep. well now this depends, ur in canada right, so is that US or canadian dollars? optimas usually run for $100-120 bucks here, a little over the top its a good battery esp. if you want to get some i.c.e. later

I bought my optima red top for 90 bucks brand new. The yellow tops were 110. You got reamed, and I bet they didn't even kiss you.

You might have over paid a little but you got an awesome battery.

BTW... was your battery completely dead? Because if you jump your car and run it for a while the battery charges itself back up.

^^^yea, did you make sure you even needed a new battery because if you had it jumped and then went down to sears, that means your battery was still good.

not true.. once ur car is jumped u can disconnect the battery and still have the car run because its running off the alternator..

true, but its not a good idea to disconnect the battery while the car is running cuz it can spike the engine computer, and shorten the life of it. but just bcuz it jumps doesnt mean its still good, but hopefully sears tested it for you and made sure it was bad. And $110 is about right price for 51 series yellow top.

I dont think you can literally disconnect the battery because it is part of the circuit of the car. If you connect the 2 terminals together with the battery gone that might work, but i dont recommend doing that cuz you can get electricuted.

if you jump it and drive it to charge up the battery, and it happens again, then you know the battery is dead, if it cannot hold the charge. damn, i didn't know those optimas were so expensive.

Optima's really make a difference though. #1 rule of having a system is always keep your car on while ur bumpin or the car will die. Sure he paid about $50 more then he should have, but what would you rather do, save $50 and not drive a car for a week, or spend an extra $50 and be able to drive it an hour later. Advanced Auto sells it for like $150 I think, and I'd rather spend that then not be able to drive for a week while I wait for a battery to be shipped from TNA sports for $110.
