Sparco Harness

I'm wanting to get a set of sparco seat harnesses but i'm not sure which type would be the best. I was thinking about the 4 point but i have seen that several people have the 3 point too. So which one do you suggest?

What kind of racing do you do??

Autocross: 4 point

Road course: has to be SFI certified, & you need a roll cage=$$$

Drag racing: ???

Street racing: dont get one, theyre dangerous...unless you have a roll cage, the you would need a DOT legal one(schroth)

Yeah, you don't just buy a harness because you want one. Its a big safety thing. I don't understand why people drive on the street with them anyways. They're uncomfortable and you can't move.

Well what would be the best way to go if i'm mostly going to be street driving? I got my new seats in yesterday but it looks like it will be a big pain in the a$$ to attach the OEM seat belts to these new seats.

Thats not a reason to go out and buy racing harnesses. If you're in any sort of accident, you're basically screwed. You're locked in, you can't move left or right, so if you get sideswiped, you're gonna eat it. Thats why roll cages usually include NASCAR style door bars on the drivers side.
If the car rolls, you're not going to get thrown sideways clear of the roof, the car is gonna fold you in half.
You get hit head on, chances are you're coming out the bottom of the harness (AKA submarining), which is why you can't race competitively without the nut strap or leg straps, that is, if the reclining seat back can withstand the force of the harness tugging on it without breaking off. There's a reason racing seats are non reclinable.
Moral of the story... no cage + harnesses + accident = Dead.
There's no nice way to put it. Its like people who get a face full of a "cool" Momo steering wheel because they took the one with the airbag in it off.

I haven't got any designs to install a harness in my car, but while we're on the topic, are those 3pt. rally harnesses any good at preventing submarining?

No. The Schroth ASW thing will help a little, but if you get hit hard, you're coming out the bottom. The harness isn't designed to give the same way as a stock one will. The 3 and 4 point belts are really only useful for autocross, where the whole point is to hold you in place, and the likelihood of hitting anything is very low.

So I take it your suggesting staying with the OEM seat belts.
