Painting Valve Cover
My girl has a 2003 AT Civic EX, which is under lease and her mother (who bought and pays for the car) has said she does not intend to buy at the end of the lease. Thank god, AT sucks in my opinion.
Anyway for our anniversary I just bought a second OEM Valve Cover, checked that it matches identical and it does. Got primer, clearcoat, red, and black all rated to 650 degrees F. She has no mods. I wouldn't let her waste her money.
I got these instructions from the DIY section:
I generally don't see anything wrong with these directions. I'm not doing anything different except I have some airbrush detailing for a personal little inscription during the black 4-6 coats so I just would do 4-6 with the airbrush. For those of you that have done this, any suggestions or pointers would be much appreciated.

1. Removed wire cover by twisting plastic screws about 1/8th of a turn in either direction and lifting.
2. Cleaned very well.
3. Applied 3-5 coats (all coats were very thin) of primer and let set.
4. When primer dried, i used painting tape (the kind that comes of very easily as not to harm what's underneath) and an exact-o knife to very carefully mask off the Honda and VTEC letters on the cover, as well as the indentations at the bottom.
5. Next, I applied 4-6 Coats of red paint to the cover, and allowed to dry for 3 hours.
6. I removed the tape and masked off the rest of the areas, allowing me to paint all areas not painted red black w/ 4-6 more coats.
7. Finally, I allowed everything to dry overnight, and clear coated my cover with another 5 thin coats of paint.
8. the Finished product: a professional looking red valve cover with black lettering for the price of 20 bucks + a few hours of my time.. takes a lot of patience to do a good job.

streetglower I think my other thread got deleted before I could explain myself
I wonder what threads in off-topic are getting deleted for anyway. ::rolls eyes:: Isn't off-topic for the weird pointless stuff?
anyway I was just saying that if you take anything in life and think about it you can work the system...with the quotes I can do something like
Just kidding, but you get my point. You can use this to real advantage in a flame war, the other guy spends half his time correcting your "edited" quotes. And in a long conversation of four or five pages of posts, you can quote stuff from page one on page five and those who are too lazy to read them all will see the quote and believe it. The ignorant little sheep follow you making him look like an idiot and flame him to death.
