ecu
hey peeps,
ok, i know this is probably a dumb question and most of u might think i'm a moron...but...
does the 92-95 civic ex (civic si in canada) ecu fit the 01+ civic??? if not, could u make it fit?
if u've read my other thread on the v-afc2 then you would understand why i want to do something like this....because we have the 3 stage vtec thing, i wanna get rid of it cause it's junk when it comes down to tuning the v-afc....i can't get the vtec to engage without the cel coming on....so i talked to a few people and they said that this ecu would be the best to tune....if it fits....any suggestions?

i seriously doubt it'll work. The d17 has newer/more sensors and what not that the ECU would have to control. Obviously, a 92-95 ECU wouldn't have all the connections to it, or the programming.

but if you get it working and figure everything out, then more power to you. I just think it'll be a waste of time.
I'd just go with the Greddy E-manage and tune with that if i were going to go the trouble of figuring out everything for a 92-95 ECU for a D17 motor.

May want to ask carbonfly about tuning the vtec engagement. I've heard leaving it stock is best, but he's managed to bump his up without the cel turning on.

putting an old ecu on a newer engine is jsut asking for trouble I don't care if you do save some money. Trying to figure it out then it would have to be reprogrammed i'm sure so why not go with a separate engine mangement that is know to actually work. I have also heard of ways to keep the cel from kicking on if I find that info I will post back to here.
