Question Exhaust Headers?

Hey everyone, the only other easy add on that I can do to my 01' civic is headers. I got the exhaust system and intake. I was looking around an I know that DC Sport headers are probably recommended by most people. I don't have that much money though. I am willing to spend up to $200 for headers. Does anyone know a brand of headers besides DC Sport that are cheaper than $200 and can be installed without modification that increase the flow of exhaust considerably?

^^ that about sums it up...

but yeah you might want to look into the HP header, Kamikaze, or...if you wanna wait...i think there might be enough interest for Stafford Fabrications to make an NA header....hope this helps!

Megan Racing! I just bought a Megan Racing header used from a guy on this site for $50...you can get it for around that or not much more from ebay. Yes, it's an ebay generic brand, but its a whole lot better than DC sports, and it honestly isnt that hard to remove a few bolts and re-install your stock header when it comes time for inspection.

dude go with the hp header with catalyst eliminator, you will get like 15 to 20 ponies with no cat on your car and a header added to it. dc is the worst to get because it is so close to stock size, you barely get any ponies and only like a 2 to 3 gain. but the thing about the hp is the emissions you probably wont pass! but its the sweetest setup in the world!!!!! Its what i'll be getting

of course, you wont pass inspection with ANY header (other than DC), so why do you care about emissions?

totally true, there is no reason to even get a header if you worry about emissions, unless you feel like taking the **** off only once a year!! hell once a year is easy.

are these headers any good? These are a generic brand that are less than $100. There are also OBX headers on ebay for 01' civics. They're a little more than $100 but thats alright. If I get one of these generic headers, I want to make sure that they'll fit properly. I've heard of people having to have part of their engine mounts in order to get their generic headers to fit properly.

thats with the full length header; just get a shorty header so that you retain your cat and stay carb-legal. Then its VERY simple install. (i have Megan Racing, same as OBX)

I thought that even with the shorty headers, if it wasn't a DC Sport then it was illegal. So if I get an OBX short header then it will be legal when I get my car inspected?

no; i was talking about the shaving engine mounts part. DC Sports is the only legal header, but it is so close to stock that its not even close to being worth the money; it literally takes 20 minutes to install/uninstall, and once a year isnt that bad.

OBX and MR (megan racing) short headers are identical, so I can vouch that the OBX will go in no problems and look great!

detroittosag has a little shameless behaviour in the past
people with the headers.. i have a question. when u change header, taking out the cat converter, does your car still run good?? does it run like crap, and is it a big loss of fuel economy??

its just a shorty header; doesnt replace the cat. Unless you have an LX, in which case it does. If you want to replace the cat, the install is a lot more involved, and I think you have to shave the motor mounts. The shorty headers off ebay just replace the stock header on EX's, which is what I have. I don't know about performance differences on the LX's.

However, if you take out the cat, you will have to get an 02 simulator.

I got mine from Built4race (ebay). Getting rid of a cat converter is beneficial to fuel economy, but bad for emissions (obviously)

I currently have an OBX B3 Bomb catback exhaust and an Injen SRI being my only engine mods. How much HP do you all think I would gain with the OBX top section headers?
