Anyone ever have Maaco paint kit?
Hey guys I'm shopping around for prices to paint my kit. So far the best deal has been Maaco (unfortunately) they want $300 to paint the kit, with flex additive and everything. They say they paint kits all the time and it will be no problem. They kept warning me though about how some kits have silicone in them, and if they do it will cause the paint to pop. Anyone ever had Maaco paint their kit, or anyone know about the silicone thing?

my neighbor knew somebody that had their car painted by Maaco and there was spray paint all over the windows.
You get what u pay for !!!!
I actually used to work For Maaco. Prepped and painted. The one here does a good job, but its individually owned, so it really just depends on how good the person is thats actually spraying it. If you do go with Maaco, make sure to get a basecoat/clearcoat job. Do not get enamel because it will peel after about a year. The cheap paint jobs they offer are always enamel paints. It sucks. But if you go with a base/clear and get the warranty, i dont see how you could go wrong.
that $300 quote may be enamel, if its base/clear, i say go for it.

the maaco here totally sucks ***, they did my friends car for the same price, paint didnt match, and after a month, it started peeling, and not to mention all the overspray everywhere from the wheel wells, one of the wheels, glass and muffler...i would shop around a lil more..i had my first kit painted for 400, front, sides, and rear. its a hundred bucks more, but the quality was so much better.

When it comes to paint, DO NOT CHEAP OUT! trust me, its worth paying a little more, coz int he long run it will cost you more to take it to maaco, because you will end up re painting in a fewmonths or next season! TRUST ME!
there a rip here. this kid tried to get a altezza grille painted and they were like i'd ssay 150-200 to paint it. i was like, wtf thats a huge rip off. we just went to walmart and painted it with some black paint, lol. 5 buckaroos.
i got my rear bumper painted at this one place and the guy was like, i can paint it for like 150 and install it for 100. i said alright cuz it was a full rear bumper and i knew it had to be adjusted a lot to fit. well he paints it and then puts it on. i ask him why it doesn't match and he said just give it some time. it doesn't match after a few days so i call him back and ask him to redo it because they first obviously didnt prep it right and they didn't sand or anything, just put some paint on it. They asked for the paint code so i thought it would come out right. while i was bitzhing at the guy cuz it didn't match, he was like, well if u wanted all that stuff done (sand, prep and all) that woulda cost you like 4-500 dollars. i was like, umm, i thought i paid for that, why would you paint my thing and give me a crappy job especially on a new car. i was like, wth, you said u'd paint it right. he took it back and painted it again. of course he didnt sand it again but it does match a little better and they did a little better job. it still isn't perfect especially in the crevices and in specific spots. i dont think he clear coated it either. i wont ever go there again. i kno 250 for paint and install is a decent price. 4-500 is just a plain rip off. i think 100 for install is like super high but oh well. He's lucky tho, i was gonna clal the bbb, cuz i had my dad go with me the second time cuz he thought he can get away with ripping some kid off. he was wrong. thought he was cool too, cuz he washed my car and gave me a free t-shirt, but he was wrong cuz i brought it back adn i wanted it done right. i wouldn't recommend them ever. im gonna go to this other place to get it repainted later on, but not righ tnow, its pretty good now.

I suggest doing the prep-work yourself.
- sanding
- primer
- very lite mist of this black stuff (forgot the name, but so you can see where you wet sanded in the next step)
- wet sand
Other than adding flex and using the correct paint will insure your paint job won't chip or just fall off. Also if the kit is getting painted off the car theres a 99% chance its not going to match...it's a givin'. However, if you have it painted on the car and blended it will. Keep in mind when you put your oem bumpers back on it won't again.

I went to a Collision Center, that just happens to be adjacent to one of the worst intersections in my town. Dropped it off with the Honda paint code and picked it up the next morning. I didn't really know the place but I saw that they were professional and had a great building set up; the grill came out very close match (not exact, but close enough)
Try out a reputable shop, not just a big-name shop.
