EX/LX/DX midsection?????
OK, so HP racing makes a mid-section exhaust piping for 01+civic, well i emailed them and they said it fits all models, will this work? I thought that the EX and LX/DX exhaust set-ups were different? I searched and looked at the exhaust diagrahms, can cant tell why

im not worried about the header, i know thats different on the models, im talking about the pipe from the cat to the muffler, or in the case of the LX/DX the downpipe to the muffler, is it the same distance?

No, because of the location of the cat. on the LX it is right off of the header and the EX it is under the car. From what Project2K2 says, it's about 2 feet short from where it needs to be. I was wondering the same thing You were. It doesn't make much sense to me, seeing that it's the same distance from the header to the midpipe.

Anyway. I have the HP midsection. I have a full EX system on an LX (minus the header and cat cuz of the turbo). The midsection only fits the EX. If you get an EX header, you'll still need a cat. I have the Random Technology Hi Flow Cat, but some headers come with the "cat". So the header and the cat will mate up to HP's midsection. but the problem is that the cat or whatever will knock up against the LX front stabilizer. I had to switch that out for an EX one ($60). Eitherway... It's a lot of work to just change an exhaust. I had to do it for the turbo though.

God through all that finally someone with some facts. lol.
no the EX and DX/LX/HX mid sections are different. whatever they say at HP is wrong. I dont see how they can make one that can fit both, as the EX's is shorter while the LX is longer (since the cat convertor is at a different location)

well maybe they just include the midsection that connects the lx/dx piping with there cat back . Like magnaflow does they include the piping to make it work for bolth cars with every kit the people that dont have lx/dx end up with a extra pipe seems a little bit wastefull to me but hey im not magnaflow

So should I do the EX swap? Is it worth it? I May turbo later on, but not til im out of college..gotta save that money...but im thinking of just getting the top portion of an EX header and an OEM EX downpipe/cat, will that still hit the front stabilizer? thanks for the help

yup i have the exact steup i have a megan header for a ex and a Oem ex downpipe and cat . yes it hits the front sway bar you have to get a front aftermarket sway bar for an ex then everything fits . but i think it worth it with the header you gain horsepower in some small amount
and the downpipe make it so you can use any ex exhaust system since there is more out there for a ex then for lx/dx

ok this will end all the confusion
LX and EX exhaust COULD NOT BE MIXED
if u gonna change the header/downpipe or what ever. WHEN U ORDER UR STUFF MAKE SURE IT HAS "EX" WRITTEN SOMEWHERE. example. EX HEADER fits EX DOWNPIPE fits EX CAT-BACK.
and in the case of lx header.....NO ONE MAKES HEADERS THAT HAVE A CAT IN IT.
