I machined it out of aluminum bar stock, but the student shop didn't have an M24x1 Die, nor did I have the time to program the CNC lathe to cut the outer threads for the boot to attach to. So I sent it to a shop I know to have the threads cut into it, and they're gonna get it back to me next monday.

My dad use to be a machienest, worked for Kodac and then did prototype injection molding for Fischer price.

one question though, does the **** wiggle any? can u explain to me what holds the **** on the shifter? like the screwing or whatever. i just dont want to end up buying it only to find myself being pissed off because it wiggles and moves on the shifter.
Tell me what you don't like about yourself....

It screws directly onto the shifter. It's Spoon dude. It's made to fit the honda sticks.
Mmm, I don't understand the hype of spoon non-performance parts. While I don't mean to dog your ****, ppl go overboard with hype just because it says "spoon" or "mugen." Just because it's a Spoon or Mugen **** doesn't mean it deserves worship.
saving a couple hundred grams won't do anything substantial to how you shift gears, it's a purely aesthetic item. Short shift ***** in my opinion make it harder to shift because you have to reach down lower. Sure the throw's a shorter distance, but it's less ergnomical.
it does look kinda nice i suppose, and if you're into JDM i suppose it's cool.

its a nice **** but I dread to ask the price.
anyway why dont u grab the rsx's **** retainer? I believe they have those for aftermarket **** purposes... it should fit.
though I duno if it'll work on the spoon **** you got there.

Why? Because not everybody worships Spoon and Mugen for the sake of worshipping them. Spoon could make mudflaps and ppl would buy them up for the sake of name. Spoon performance parts are awesome, but a shift **** is a shift ****.
I like the taste of Boilermaker parts a lot. The OZ rims, the RS*R, etc. Shift **** looks nice. But I think people blow out of proportion JDM parts, especially when they're minor things that cost a lot.

Compare it to what other titanium ***** cost, its cheap... STi is $150, ITR is $200, NSX is $280.... Therefore I don't complain. I don't think it was blown out of proportion for the name nor do I really think it was excessive. If Spoon wanted to, they probably could charge $50 more and people would still buy it. But pricing it in the bracket with most of the other big namers makes them sell more.
Sure ok, its a Spoon ****, but it doesn't say that anywhere on it. So unless you were in the know, you wouldn't be the wiser. Honestly, I liked it, I had some money to burn, I bought it, why make a federal case of it. If you think its a waste, then don't buy it. If you like it, they just came out, go get one.
Anyways to answer the retainer question... I don't know what the RSX retainer costs, but FREE was definately cheaper. I also like shiny metal things over chinsy plastic and I have a Momo boot so the clip thingies on the bottom wouldn't work too well with the boot.

and it screw right on I could have done the same, but it wouldn't have been hollow, it wouldn't have weighed 17 grams, and it wouldn't have had the fire-treated finish. Since I don't have (and I'm sure your HS shop doesn't either) an argon booth to weld the 2 hollow titanium halves together, It wouldn't have been so easy to do now would it?
Smart ***.

I think I'll save the trouble and let a skilled shop worker weld the **** together for me.

i sense a little bit of jealousy here. i think these people just have no style or taste in the products that they purchase. they ride around on unpainted body kits, stock rims, and accessories from APC. if i had the money, i would be spoon and mugen all the way. i don't even know why we waste our time arguing with these idiots.
weeee, me want cookie.... hehe.... i wasn't saying nething bad about ur shiftknob and i think it looks really nice
, but 100 bux for a shifknob is so expensive and i can't never afford soemthing like that.... thats why i have to go thought the trouble of making my own..... sorry if my other post was a bit offensive. neways much respect for ur spoon shifknob

I like the shift ****, looks really good. MoMo and others make nice ***** too. I understand perfectly why people buy them (name, look, feel) but I don't think I could justify spending $100 on something like a shift ****. I can understand getting away from the stock ****, that thing was just to tall and ugly. However, my **** is off of a 2000 Si, screws on perfectly, and the factory boot clip worked fine. It's such a subtle difference that people don't oogle over my ****, but at the same time it's different.
