Paint bubbling? (Pic added)
Well, I've had on my wings west g5 rear lip for about a month with my stock muffler and everything was fine. Last week I installed my HKS Hi-Power rear section and I noticed that my rear lip is starting to bubble
. Nothing is touching, but im guessing the smoke from the exhaust is causing it. Anyone know what I can do to prevent this, there are 3 tiny bubbles starting to form, and I dont want them to get any bigger!. Any protection I can use so it wont start bubbling up?

How close is it? Anywase as soon as paint starts to bubble you're kinda screwed. Mabye it wasnt prepped well enough? Bring it to a bodyshop and see what they say. Might be cheaper to fix now that its still small.
well, I took some pics of it so here it is. As you can see nothing is touching the rear lip. Its melted underneath because I had bought it like that. But as far as those 3 bubbles go. It just started to pop up a few days ago.
that sucks-sorry man. Have you felt the tip of the muffler after it's been running for a while? Is it hot? That's what looks like happened - doesn't neccesarily have to touch it.

wings west messed up when they made that rear lip cuz part of it sits to close to the exhaust. I have the same problem with my turning colors cuz its white and its burnt. Didnt bubble though.

Have someone make you a metal piece to go above your tip. May not look thet great but you could paint that with High temp paint to help hide it.

Yes, it's exhaust heat. Why do you think paint is only bubbling right where the exhaust is? That is really close to the paint. You should look into getting the exhaust lowered a bit.
sorry for the shitty picture, but you can see on mine (GREDDY EVO) that i dropped my hanger about 1/2 inch and it still sits fine (no scraping) and rest assure doesnt have that "hanging" look..
if you want ill take a better pic tomorrow?
or even tonight if you want me too?

how do you "lower" your hanger? The HKS hangers arent exactly even, thats why theres a tilt to it. Does that matter? Anyway, if you can tell me how I can lower it a little bit, that would be good, I dont want this to get any worse.
yea just practically bend the bitch down some..
dont worry you wont hurt nothing..
in my setup:
i cut the hanger by 1/2 inch and then did spot welding and make it sit perfectly even..
but a hammer will do no matter what..
(seriously)

if it's a metal hanger you can heat it up with a torch, then pull down on the exhaust to stretch it a little. If it's rubber, you can just buy one that is a little longer, any muffler shop will heve them.
damn, a hammer? For some reason I dont really wanna go that route. I did touch the exhaust, and that thing gets reaaalllyyy hot, lol. Didnt think it would be thaat hot. Well, any other way of fixing this besides hammering it down? I see some people put that silver duct tape underneath the rear lip right above the exhaust. Does that help any?

i don't know how well duct tape works as a heat shield but i know that would look really tacky... i suggest you get your piping extended a bit and maybe get the hangers extended as well...

Yeah the guy that I bought mine from had the exhaust pretty much sitting on the lip so I had to get the body shop to do a little fixing before it was repainted... My exhaust sits a little further behind the lip and I havent had any problems (apexi n1 catback).. Here is a pic...Its the best one I could find... Let me know if you want a better one...
dont think about touching thast exhaust my little brother did bc we were flying and hit a huge bump so i was like go make sure its not hanging and it was pitch black and he touched and burnt his pinky and ring finger a little bit not like 3rd degree burns but pretty bad
