Octane Rear Bumper Install ***HELP***

Here is the scenario:

My friend and I are trying to install my rear bumper on my 4 door honda civic.
We have already installed the front and side skirts. The question is did anyone have to
remove the rear steel bumper, not rear facia, but the bumper itself? We have tried every way,
from removing the foam piece, to almost cracking the bumper in half trying to fit over the steel bumper. I have one idea but I want to know if that would work, I am thinking of getting flat pieces of steel or non-corrosive metal and fabricate a bumper, It looks like all I would need is to have maybe 4 to 5 pieces of steel layered on top of each other, some spacers made, and then weld the layers and spacers together after placing the appropriate holes in to have it mounted onto the car. I would be using the stock mounting points. In doing this I would just create my own bumper. Or should I just go without one because right now the fron and side look awesome but I want the rear also.
Has anyone installed one yet and could you answer this question.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if we weld it the entire length of the metal, both sides also.
Or should I just have the holes drilled and then just mount them like a sandwich, first the spacers then the remaining 2 or 3 pieces. I want to have some sort of protection in the rear. I have a nice audio system in the back, they could be some dampen force.

Umm well I removed my stock bumper and replaced it with a new stock bumper, I dont understand your problem, you've got to take out tails and then the two clips underneath car, then the two screws on each side in the fenderwell and then the two screws that are under the black plastic pieces when the trunk is open. Then, with the bumper off you just unscrew the two screws on each side that hold in under the tails (not talking about the metal bracket, the plastic one). Then put that onto the new rear bumper and just install although you need another person to hold it in place.

Are you sure you didnt get an Octane coupe rear bumper?

he's talking about the bumper not the bumper cover..
the kit wont fit without being modded..
i think you should go to a shop and see what they can do b4 you go and start fabricating a new bumper..
it might be something real simple or just the damn thing is made wrong and doesnt fit it happens
