2001 sedan gauge cluster?

Okay guys, I have an 02 and ruined the cluster to the point of needing a new one. I decided to get the 01 cluster that has black face instead of silver cause it will match my interior better. Does anyone know if the lighting is the same as on the 02 (amber-yellow green color)?

Also, I'm assuming the dealer will be able to reset the mileage. Please only sedan owners reply, since coupe has different colors.

WHat ever gauge cluster you install the dealer will not be able to program the millage on the new cluster. They will in turn give you a sticker that they stick to your door jam with the old mileage from the old cluster. Keep in mind you really should find out also the model of your orgainal cluster now, should either be NS or vistion. Although There has been people that have swapped clusters using different models, my techs at work do not advise it. I do have some phone numbers at work where you should be able to send your gauge cluster to get programed with the correct mileage. Hope this helps

It depends on whether you have an lx, dx or ex. My lx has the black face guages with the lighting you want. However, the ex lights up orange but that can be changed relaticely easy. If you read the DIY for the blue lights it explains that there are some "gels" on the LED's that light up the interior. If you remove these the lights will light up just like the lx/dx guages.

I thought the sedans all had the same lighting and the coupes had the orange. Unless only the 01 ex has orange, and not 02. Are there places around town that will reprogram the cluster? Someone had said the ecu has to be used to reset the cluster mleage to actual miles. Either way, I need a new one.

That's the one, but can't make out the model number. I hope the lighting is the same as 2002.

I'm not too worried about mileage being off. I'll just take pics of old and new so I know the real mileage. Won't be an issue cause I plan on keeping this car for a long long time.

have u checked with your dealer if they would fix the problem? i've had reverse indiglos on my cluster until it messed everything up...so i just took it off...took it to the dealership, and they ordered me a new set of clusters.....and yes the milage was reset to zero...but they put the little sticker on the door...so..yeah..^^;;

I already bought the cluster. I'm not taking it to the dealer if they can't set the actual mileage. The one I bought has unknown mileage (used), so if it's close to my current miles I may wait til they're the same before swapping. If it's way off, I'm just putting it in and screwing the car. I won't be selling anyway. Oh and I got 01 black cluster with tach for sedan--looks way cleaner than those silver face ones I have.

As far as I know, hopefully, coupe lights are orange and sedans are amber-greenish.

If you swap when the mileage is the same, noone will know. I'm hoping that it's more miles than my original and not less. I just wish it wasn't stored in each cluster.

Reset it to zero by buying a new one! Mine's used, so I won't know until a few weeks later how many miles are on it. I'm gonna try and keep the indiglos on and wait til the mileage matches. I just hope the one I'm getting has more miles than my car. It's too bad honda designed them this way.

Oh and I tried to peel off the face of my old gauges to stick some film inside and change the colors. Well I somehow cracked it internally and now the numbers have cracks going through them at night. And the temp needle doesn't read correctly anymore.

Yes, they will know. The dealer keeps track of mileage everytime you visit. If you get an oil change at 18K and come back for the next one at 12K, you're in big trouble. If it's more than actual miles, you can just say you drove alot.

There is a separate computer that keeps track of real miles all the time. Technically, the real miles can be compared with gauge cluster miles. I'm trying to find a shop that can use the ecu miles to set the new cluster. I won't be getting the cluster for at least 2 weeks

what if you don't do oil change @ dealer??? how can people know that you have change your cluster???

if you sell your car @ 20K actual mileage and you change your cluster that says 15K (cluster mileage) ... how do the buyer know if you change the cluster??

A stupid buyer won't know the difference, but there is a way to crack the ecu and obtain the true mileage. Stop thinking about it! I don't even know if I'm going through with it. For now I'm just gonna keep the indiglos on my busted cluster.

ive seen it done, it takes alot of time. the milage has to match up to 1/10th of a mile..otherwise..as soon as you crank the car...the milage on the cluster will jump right back to the original milage.

I guess I won't be doing that then. Too close of a procedure. I don't even know the EXACT miles on the used cluster I got off ebay. I guess I'll have to hope that's it's pretty close to the real miles at least.

And I'm not sure I understand that. Lets say I plug in my newer cluster I got and find out what the mileage reads. Then I put my old cluster in and drive the car until the miles reach the ones on the newer cluster. Then swap it in. What is the original mileage that it will jump back to, if they're the same?

if your old cluster = 18K and then you put the new one = 15K, then you will stay at 15K. then if you put your old cluster back, you will start at 18K.

I'm first gonna try and take the gauge face off and try a transplant. Hopefully that works and I won't have to deal with miles. I'll post back in a few weeks when it comes in.
