I just got some, do you suggest I use it or return it? It doesn't really rain that much in California, Southern California, but I thought it would keep my windows clean.
Icksters, instead of trying to remove it, do this;
Clean your windows thoroughly, don't worry if you still see traces of Rain-X.
Re-Apply the Rain-X by pouring or spraying some onto a towell and lightly wipe down your windows with it. Let it dry, forming a dull haze over everything, then when dry, re-apply it over top of itself, again.
When the second layer is dry, get a soft clean cloth, chamois, or equivalent, and buff the heck out of everything with small circular motions. I have a chamois I dedicate exclusively for my glass, and it works wonderfully. It should polish up to a nice mirror like shine.
The protective qualities last about a month in my experience, depending on wiper use. Here in central New York, there's a layer of ice on my windshield every morning just from the moisture in the air. Before Rain-X I had to scrape for several minutes, now, with Rain-X I just use a brush and the ice slides off in no time.
Best of luck,
Pol

yup rain-x is my hero. Its also a good idea to put it on your rear glass. Since we have to rear wiper, it works just as great on the rear as it does on the front. Im thinkin about using it on my sunroof, but I have bird **** on there right now, so...

Rain-X on the COMPUTER????
Well, it all started many years ago when I was but a boy...
Acutally, it's not all that exciting, a friend of mine who liked to play computer games had a nasty habbit of inexplicably peppering my monitor with little spittle dots. I don't know how he did it, I don't know why, but every time I'd sit down at my computer after he'd been there, I'd have to clean the thing. I play a lot of air combar sims(wwiionline.com) and would constantly get distracted by what I though were enemy aircraft at a great distance only to discover it was acutally a dried spit-dot on my monitor. So, more of a joke than anything else, one day I made a production out of putting Rain-X on my monitor before he started playing. Negligably functional, just more of a good natured dig at my saliva-challenged buddy.
Now that I think on it, I sure do hope they were spittle dots.
Best to all,
Pol

THAT'S FUKIN' HILARIOUS!!!!!!!
However, it sounds to me like you need some new friends....preferrably ones that can control their bodily functions/fluids. lol
I too am a huge fan of rainx. I stopped using the stuff that comes in the little yellow bottle... I guess I'm too lazy or something. Now I use the "RainX windsheild washer fluid". It costs a couple of bucks more than regular washer fluid, but it's way worth it. Whenever it starts raining I just squirt the washer fluid and it applies itself.

I love rain-x... I swear by it and I almost never use my wipers. You just have to make sure its applied evenly and when its starts to wear off you apply more.

I use the wiper fluid version myself as well. It works nicely.
The only thing I have never liked aboot RainX is the way it makes TINY beads of water on the window when there is a misty rain... and you have to wiper it alot to be able to see.
Aside from that I like it, esp when its raining nicely out. Keeps things extra clear. And if Im on the highway I almost dont need wipers at times.
My problem is more with the fogging up on the inside of the windows.

speaking of putting it in your windshield fluid, i saw a little baggie of air fresherner liquid that u mix in w/the windshield liquid, and when u clean ur windshield w/the fluid, the smell gets in the air vents and stuff... (it was like 94 cents). i figured it'd mess up the cleanliness of the windshield... just thought i'd share
that rain-x wiper fluid, from what I've heard, eats paint though. SOmebody said that, since little dribbles of washer fluid hit your hood every time you wash, those areas got really faded from the rain-x. I just use the normal stuff once a month on all exterior clear surfaces.
I used to use RAIN-X deicer on my Wrangler, and it was the best I've ever seen, except it left really nasty and stubborn marks wherever it splashed on the paint. It wasn't permanent but it was a PITA to remove all the time....
i havent had any problems with wiper. As for applying it, I just put some on and spread it fairly evenly around the windshield first (i do half at a time actually). Then do circular motions (about a foot diameter) all around untill the swirls are practically gone. Then go do the other side just the same. THen come back like half an hour later and use circular motions to take the glaze off. Just keep goin until its gone. Takes a while to do it well.
Regarding wiper damage, first I heard of this. Anyways I bought PIAA silicon wipers (CF trim) and they came with small packet of Rain X so I had to put silicon coating on windshield. So far these wipers and rain X have worked extremely well, very clear view and the wipers are smooth & quiet compared to stock. Highly recommended.

The only car I had a problem with was the black one. The paint was fine but the fluid did leave noticable spots that were hard to clean. Black cars suck big time to keep clean. No problems on the red and silver cars.
I sure wish my car was newer
