Question Opening the Throttle

Okay I have 2 Questions:

1) While driving my 2k1 LX AUTO I've noticed that with a little petal control i can keep the throttle open for a really long time. When i do it i can keep the car at about 6000 RPM's. I was wondering if this is hurting the engine in anyway. The reason i ask is because if i drive normally and dont concentrate on the pedal, the car will eventually drop down to 4000 RPM's and just like idle there, making no power.

2) If i boost the car will it hurt the engine doing this?

I don't know how you can keep it there with an auto, unless you're going uphill or something. It shouldn't hurt, since it's below the redline and the engine was made for it. Running boost all the time wears down the turbo faster as well. You won't need to keep the rpms high with a turbo anyway.
