The door skin is the outer part of the door, the part you see when the door is closed and your standing out side the vehicle. It isn't that thick but the only problem you'd face is attaching it to the door frame and making it not rattle.

FI is in the process of making carbon fiber doors... at least they have a link that says "doors" on their page, and its still "under construction"

They are available for the RSX, but not for 7th gen Civics yet. (Not that I have seen anyway.)
