projectors
im interesting in getting a set of blackhousing projectors, are they worth getting? which brand? are the halo ones better? any problems with aiming, increased/decreased lighting? etc etc?
thanks
thanks
As far as I know, there are 4 types of aftermarket headlights for the 7th gen civic:
TYC projectors (chrome, brushed aluminum, black)
Halo 'Sonar' projectors (chrome, black)
'Matrix' projectors (with or without halo, black or chrome)
JDM black housing headlights (basically oem headlights with black chrome trim)
The TYC is your safest bet for legality's sake. The other headlights do have SAE DOT embossed on the clear part of the housing; just hope that the cop that pulls you over will take the time to inspect that.
I too like the Halo projectors. Here is the pair I bought from Gizute used:

I just resealed them in that pic. It looks like they've been taken apart before and the bulb sockets have been tampered with, so I fixed all that up. The best part about these projectors is that they use both the stock harness and the stock turn signal and the useless daytime-running lights (parking lights?). They use h1 bulbs seperately for high and low beams. They aren't as bright because the whole housing isn't used to focus the beams.
I don't care for the halo itself because it will probably burn out in a few months of use if they haven't already (and it's a bit ricer). But I do like who the Halo projectors are more 'orderly' looking than the the other projectors. All the pods are the same size and lined up.

theres no such thing as JDM black housing, the real JDM headlights are just like ours i believe, if anything they prob have a city light... but anyway thanks for all the replies, that was quick!
i wanted to paint the housing black a while ago, but i ran into so many problems and mishaps i just said forget it! so i turned to projectors... im still thinking of it, im really a JDM ***** but i just want something to make it look sleeker. my car is NBP so blackhousing projectors would be perfect.... but right now im having doubts after all these leaking problems.
so will sealing them up really work? or will it just do a temporary job?

yeah that's what I meant. I went by the trends on eBay; so far those are all i've seen. Sellers were selling oem blacked-out headlamps and labeled them as 'JDM'. They looked pretty good, because they weren't just spraypainted black all over. Just some parts were black and it wasn't flat/glossy black, it was anondized (you could see the chrome through the black). For $75 they weren't looking very bad, but not as unique as any of the projectors.01-UP CIVIC JDM STYLE BLACK HEAD LIGHT Item number: 2435503159
If you sealed it with the right stuff and if you seal it properly, then there would be no need to ever have to reseal unless you take the sealant off. The point of sealing is not to just cover up the cracks and openings, but to get the sealant into the cracks as well.
Also, air will ALWAYS find a way in. there are more chances of moisture getting through the light sockets than through the spaces around the headlamp that people try to seal up. You'd have to completely seal up each headlamp to never get any fogging, and then you'd have to make sure there isn't any already in there to start with. I don't recommend putting sealant around the light sockets, for electric hazards as well as convenience when you have to replace the bulbs.
