Anyone who has HID'S in tyc projectors please reply here.

I just installed the Black housing TYC projectors in my 02 civic ex coupe and I love them. Now I am ready to get HID's. But first I have been told that putting hids in the tyc projectors requires some modification because the hid light is too long. Is this true? I called some shops here and I am going there monday to see if they will fit, and if they do, I am going to buy them. please let me know if the HIDs will easily fit in the tyc projectors.

One word... RETROFIT

The TYC projectors were not made for HID..... you need to buy projectors from a Audi, BMW, etc. and retrofit them in there...

length wise the bulbs fit, but since there's a return wire from the bulb, which makes it wider that standard bulbs, you have to file away a corner of the projcector housing. If you find a picture of an HID bulb, you'll see what I'm talking about. I took pictures of my retrofit, but I suck at photography and none of them turned out at all ...

Before you go ahead with this though, be warned that it may be difficult to get your hands on a kit. Supposedly the DOT put a ban on all HID kits. Too many complaints from stupid people I guess.

Anyways, it's an awesome mod once it's done, and you can see soo much clearer. Good luck man

i had to modify a little more than that with the catz kit, pretty much, you have to make the bulb hole bigger, here's a shot of my hid head on, i haven't had time at night to take a pic of the lights at night. i also was manage to buy a set of 5500k before the ban was placed. i am probably going to install those in 2 weeks

the difference in color was because of the angle, and also the driveside isn't properly aimed

Hard to say on stock headlights, that's a completely different bulb for one thing. (H1 vs H4)

I would suspect you'd still have to do some minor modification to get it to fit, but I'm not certain ..

Go to ebay, you can find Audi or BMW hella hid projectors for around $150. Then just get the HID kit that corresponds with the bulb size (for Audis I think its normally 9006/9007). Do the retrofit with a 4100K kit though. Cause the reason the Audi and Beamer headlights look purple is the way the light is refracted through the planoconvex projectors. If you get 6000-8000K its just going to look wierd, and waste light output.
