I've heard that GReddy and Tanabe are the best for sound (deep) and performance. But alas, I have no money and therefore, no expierence with them. Sorry!

If you do duals there will be a lower noise no matter what because there is less pressure for the air to escape, which usually causes the pissed off weedeater sound. I can't stand a car with 1.5" exhaust piping and a riceboy coffe can muffler (APC type) that sounds like a pissed off weedeater.

I got the Apexi N1 muffler piece (Megan Racing (no jokes please)) off of ebay for 77$ shipped and got 2.25" cat-back piping done... and i am very please with the way it sounds... it might be an alternate route for what you are looking for that doesn't cost a lot of money...
getting the piping and welding of muffler on at midas cost me 100+tax so its not a bad solution

due to the set up of the WRX exhaust, and where the turbo lies in it etc... there is NO WAY to make a civic sound like that, not even a turbo one... my guy has the exhaust i know you are talking about, the HKS carbon titanium one... i have the HKS Hiper muffler with 2.5" piping all the way back and 2 custom resonators,,, its just VERY deep... no grumble though... the WRXs get those cause of how they run... when i put my turbo on, i'll let you know if it changes sounds at all.. but it wont.. (only get 2.25" if you are staying all motor by the way, 2.5" is a BITCH to fit, especially with a car as low as mine)

I use to have an OBX Bomb 3 full cat back. IT was very low and deep. The pipping was 2.5 and a breeze to install and my car was slammed with a 4 inch drop. Very well made exhaust IMO. And cheap too. I got the full cat back from Massivemotorsports.com and paid $259 for it. The shipping took a while though.

Thermal exhausts are well known for their very low rumble. I just have the rear section and it's very low toned with a bit of base sound. If you get the catback it will make it much louder. Very nice looking, too. I think the STEALTH line is supposed to be the best, but classic is supposed to be louder.

Ok this question about how exhausts sound and such has come up so many times. I think what needs to be done is for someone to start an Exhaust Sound Clip thread where people post exhaust sound clips for their cars so people could listen and decide which they like best because people have different interpretations of deep sounding, loud, weed wacker, etc.

if i owned this site, i would be so pissed, because if i reloaded the homepage every hour on the hour, there would be at least one new thread about "which is exhaust (or intake) is the loudest", or "whats the best exhaust (or intake)". just search, you lazy bastages!

Thermal R& D I would say ... my friend has a Greddy evo and it sounds quite high pitched, as well as my experience with Tanabe. You would like a Thermal

and one other question I have is why does sound matter? I like my thermal for how it looks because lets all face it, an intake and exhaust isnt gonna add gobs of power .... now if I got headers I would be a Ferrari buster :: sarcasm ::

Quite the contrary though, Its loud but its not obnoxiously loud. I'm talkin about my former exhaust, a Tanabe Racing Medalion, and i HATED it. It was so loud it drove me insane. I couldnt drive on a road trip without that exhaust making me insane. Now that I have the thermal I get many more props on my killer exhaust sound. Its loud but not too loud, and its a nice deep tone, sounds a lot like a Euro. I whole heartedly supports Thermal R&D for sound looks and "performance".
