downpipe question (tried searching)
Just wondering about downpipes for the ex. I have a dx sedan, but i want to do the ex conversion. I have the dc headers already, and i am having a hard time finding out about the downpipe. Ive seen a couple off ebay, but i wanna make sure that they have o2 sensors both before and after the cat, so that i wont need an o2 simulator. Also if anyone has done this swap on a dx do i need the ex sway bar? Ive tried searching but didnt find much. Sorry if this is a repost.

aight cool....i saw that one on ebay, but it doesnt show a picture of the second sensor hole. I also tried looking on the hksusa website and i didnt find it there either. Are there any other companies that make them? Ex sway bar?

you can get Random Technology Cat for EX...but then since you have DX, you have to extend the inlet pipe 1feet longer to avoid hitting the front sway bar...also, there are two holes for the sensors
OR you can get the universeral random tech cat and find a shop to weld it on the car...

you didnt find any info about that downpipe on the hks website because that pipe on eBay isnt real hks. take a closer look, it says its made by hks-a or something like that. i also though there were some members on here who had that downpipe and it didnt have the o2 sensors. could be wrong, but may be worth looking into.

I got an LX Sedan and I went through the trouble with converting it to a semi EX with my HP headers. Now I'm getting the SFPower Turbo and am grabbing the EX kit so I don't have to cut/weld anything.
I got that HKS-A Pipe in the mail the other day and it does have 2 holes for the O2 sensors (one at the end where the EX Header downpipe connects at & one at the end where the Exhast connects at) It doesn't come with any O2 sensors so you will either have to legnthen your existing sensors or do what I did and buy a set of EX sensors from (www.hondaautomotiveparts.com).
From my experince with my HP Header 4-1 w/ racing cat you will need to replace the front sway bar to fit the cat underneath. If you were to look at both sway bars side to side the EX sway bar has a little upward bend in the middle to clear the cat.
Now you are getting the DC Headers, which I believe are the shorty headers (just the top piece) if you look at the difference in exhaust systems in the Honda Shop Manual between the DX/LX & the EX models, the whole exhaust system is completely different. The DX/LX has the top header/cat under the hood attached together then the exhaust piping right below, while the EX has the top header piece, a second piece of piping going to the down pipe, then the downpipe/cat, then the exhaust.
So if you are going to convert it to an EX exhaust system you will need the piece of piping going from the bottom of the header to the downpipe/cat.
If I am wrong please correct me. If I had a camera I'd take pics of the honda service manual, and if I wasn't at work I'd like to the small pictures of the exhaust system on hondaautomotiveparts

I used to have that ebay hks-a downpipe, it was allright but you had to have the o2 simulator because it only had 1 o2 bung up under the header. it bolted up fine, no fitment issues. It seemed like it opened up the air flow a little, but it made my car louder and it smelled bad since there was no cat. Anyways I sold it, I have the random technology cat on order so we'll see how that works out.

okay yah i though that i only saw one sensor bung in the hks-a one of ebay, but when i asked the seller he said that there was two!? Is he lying to me. Basically i want to do this the easiest, and less complicated way. I want to get the exs downpipe....bolt it to the header...then to the midpipe, but now i need the ex sway bar....how much do those go for?

i'm gunna post it ASAP.. it sucks because i tried putting it on last night and the bolts on the stock cat were so rusted, I couldnt even get a socket on there, I sprayed them down, everything I could think of, and nothing worked, I was so pissed... I'm gunna try working on it again this weekend when I have more time....
