Yeah, I hate that, too. It seems like every other car I drive that's stick, I only have to push it down maybe 2-2 1/2 inches. How do you fix that?

IDQcivic should not be trusted
You don't have to push the clutch all the way to the floor... I dont know if thats bad or not but when I shift i only push it like halfway and it works fine....

my clutch only has to move about 2-3 inches...i think it's in the cable that runs to the hydrloc silonoid, it depends on the guy whom assembled your honda...i think it's adjustable.....

i dont push mine in all the way either, i also dislike how slow it has to be let out, my dad's tacoma is so much more fun to drive, the 4 wheel drive might be a factor though

it can usually be adjusted, take it to a dealership and they can do it for u, when i bought my car they adjusted it for me. i still have to have it all the way down to start it but shifting is aobut 1/4 way down

hey dude, i let mine out quickly.. at first i had to let it out slow cuz i sucked at driving stick, but after a while i shift alot faster and smoother... if ur car is fairly new it might just take some getting used to or u might be able to get that adjusted as well... just call ur honda dealership and tell them whats up and they should be cool to let you in on the deal.

RSDCivic will become famous soon enough
ya know thats bad for the clutch and the gear syncros if your not engaging the clutch all the way, if can lead to long run problems with the transmission..... I'm pretty sure...

RSDCivic,
it only hurts her if you hear the grinding, of if you can feel it...

if your clutch is engaged at all you will usually be able to shift smoothly. if you downshift from a high rev in 4th to 3rd, thus causing u to redline u will begin deterioration of your synchro.
everyone gets a gear grind occasionaly so thats not gonna make huge problems either

It's a hydraulic clutch. When you kick the pedal, a piston that runs through the firewall presses against the fluid, it starts a chain reaction that presses a lever arm that moves a fork, which pulls the throwout bearing and releases the clutchplate.
No cable. Otherwise it would be a cable clutch. Honda hasn't used them since the early 90's.
As far as adjusting??? I have no clue. I was under the impression you couldn't. Maybe if you add more fluid or there is some way to increase the pressure, but I'm not aware of it.

It is adjustable. But not sure if it's possible on our cars. My brother had his Del Sol changed. I think he said the mechanic played around with 2 screws by the clutch pedal..... the clutch point is lower and total clutch pedal travel is less.

Has anyone looked into this yet? I have the same problem with my SI. It we could adjust the pedal height, than ti would allow for quicker shifts.
