should i install V-AFC myself?
hey guys. i just bought a V-AFC. there is a DIY for installation. but i have no background on wiring or other eletrical stuff. Should i give it a try though? what will happen if i mess up? for those who install the V-AFC themself. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME GOOD ADVICE . thanks........
by the way. that one i jsut bought is a orginal packing from Japan. all the instructions are in japanese. does anyone have a copy of the instruction in English could email it to me?

if you have an 01+ civic, sell it and buy the V-AFC 2 when it comes out this fall. you will have nothing but problems with V-AFC 1 unless you just plan to use it as a fuel computer and not a vtec controller. do some searching, there are numerous DIYs and threads around on this topic.
with the V-AFC 2, the install will be pretty straight forward if you have the english instructions
just be ready to splice a lot of wires.

the thing is....when you first turn on your car
and get a check engine light.....
tap on the gas and see if it passes 4k rpm
if it passes....then you will be fine
if it doesn't.....then turn off your car and turn it back on right away
then you will be fine
i have an HX and i love the vtec controller.....like a mini nitrous
um, yeah, it works... but unreliably like you just said yourself. who wants the hassle of having a vtec controller that *sometimes* works when you can wait 2 months and have one that works all the time???
i know numerous people who regret getting the current V-AFC because it causes nothing but problems with our cars and is not supported by APEXi

ah vinh, didnt even realize this was you... you know vincenzobar, he had problems with his in cold temperatures where his car would suddenly not transfer to vtec and the rev limiter would kick in at like 4000rpm. may have been a faulty connection, who knows. i have heard other people complain of this.
anyway, my point is, if you wait for the v-afc 2, then you should be supported by APEXi and be able to yell at them if anything goes wrong.
