Carbon Fiber and Hail
Anyone know how well carbon fiber hoods or trunks hold up to hail compared to the regular body of the car? I'm thinking about replacing my hail damaged hood and trunk with a carbon fiber, but I'm sure that next season the hail and severe weather will be back. Just wondering if anyone knows how it'll hold up . .Thanks.

Interesting you asked.
3 weeks ago I was in a HUGE hail storm and about 1 foot of water in the streets in 1-2 minutes, flipped man-hole covers up ... in other words ... BAD
The hood had no damage (it was only 1 week old)
Kaminari CF Ram air

i suggest getting high quality ones like fiber images or dg motorsports or the kaminari one, those can take a beating without much damage... but i don't think the cheaper ones would be able to hold up...

Good Question! I wondered that too cuz my car took a Rodney King from the hail last fall and I had to replace the hood, along with about 85% of the exterior panels. But I just got the stock hood cuz' mine is a daily driver and Ohio winters will own a CF hood!! Then again, apparently the stock hood isn't all that durable either. Hella dents!!!!!
carbon fiber is usually 15 - 35% stronger than STEEL! the only damage it might do to the hood it ruin the clearcoat or something. where i work we get parts in carbon fiber and the look like you can break them but i've sat there for hours trying and no go. Carbon fiber is completely different from fiberglass.
go to pep boys - car cover = $25
carbon fiber doesnt dent like steel or alloy or any of those do
