Need help with 2007 Civic LX radio light

Hello, I have a 2007 Civic LX with a regular CD/ radio set. I just changed the oil myself, after reset the Maint. minder, the light of my stereo is gone. Is anyone out there can help me? Thanks.

Call the popo, someone stole it?

Accurately describe your issue. What still works? What doesn't work?

Does the radio still work?
Is just the display inoperative?
Is just the backlight inoperative?
Do the dome lights work?
Remotes work?

Check fuses yet?

Yes, they all work. The radio and the dome lights work, the radio display works. Just no light on the buttons. Did I do something wrong when I reset the maint. minder? Thanks

Well that's a bit different from you saying

I'd guess you should first make certain that the brightness of the dash light controller is turned all the way up since that set of buttons is right next to the oil change reset buttons......and that the rest of the lighting in the switches still works (see if problem is isolated to the radio only) HINT: the dash light brightness controller also has an internal bulb for illumination, so does the VSA switch and the HVAC panel.

Next step might be inspecting the radio illumination circuits for correct power and ground at the main connectors for the radio, then the radio itself since its illumination circuits are shared with the others listed.

Coincidence, the failing audio unit lights is common on early 8ths.

Really? I don't recall seeing but maybe one with the complaint. I wonder if it would be a simple resolder fix....

^^^Yes, early on 8th gen units. It is likely a solder issue.... but the days of car stereo repair shops are long gone. The best I can tell the unit has bulbs and not leds.

Re: Need help with 2007 Civic LX radio light

I think that these units use incandescent bulbs for illumination....(you can feel the heat if you touch the buttons when illuminated a while)

Maybe they are wired in series, and one filament failing takes them all out.
