Replacing 2012 Civic Navi

Sounds dumb. When I bought my car I thought I was going to be happy with the stock 'premium' audio system with navi. After a week, I found out I wasn't. So I started upgrading within a budget. Added some Hybrid-Audio Clarus C61-2 components, used my old school chrome PPI 4200 amp, put in a 13W3v3 sub in a ported box powered by a 500/1v2 amp. Then added Hybrid-Audio Imagine I61-2 for rear fill. Still had a hiss that my wife couldn't stand so I tried an Audio-Control LCQ-1 6-channel line output converter with equalizer and while it let me tailor the sound to my preferences and at times sounded incredible, there was still a bit of hiss and crackle. I didn't do any of the install. Couldn't. I just paid the bills. My installers even spent hours on the phone with the guys at audio-control trying to isolate the problem. Long story just to get to this point. The only thing left is the stock head unit (navi) and whatever amp came with it. Want to go to a either a Pioneer or Kenwood navi with a real head unit with preamps and go straight to my amps or to an equalizer. Anyone done this? If all I lose is the navi in the imid, it will probably be worth it (although I love that feature) but I'd still like to have it provide gas mileage, temp , pics ets. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Haven't messed with one yet, and don't really want to. I DO want to hack on my MID though (LX car).

Have you tried not using the stock amp? (assuming it has the factory amp above the gas pedal)
Run from the stereo/navi unit directly to your amps, using the line inputs?

No, I didn't replace the factory amp. Have an Audio Control LCQ-1 connected to factory amp to take its output. If I replace the navi, I'll go straight to my amps. Thanks for the reply. Am interested to see if you can hack your iMID. Saw on another forum, guys working at trying to get backwards facing camera to work through the iMID (apparently it does on Civics in other countries just not US.

I saw one where the guy is trying to use the screen for video of any sort, in addition to the backup camera. I check back on that from time to time to see what progress has been made.

I replaced a rear view mirror with the monitor built into it (from a Pilot).....If the warranty dept doesn't call for it back, I'm going to go ahead and buy the camera that goes with it and mount it up in my Civic.
