I did this about 2 days after I got the car... just thought to share.

Finally found the directions .
1.Car on, AUDIO SYSTEM OFF.
2.Push and hold TUNE button and hold down, then push power/volume. (ON)
First letter should be blinking.
3.Now turn TUNE **** to change letters
4. Push TOP of SEEK button to move to next letter, and turn **** to change.
Repeat to change letters as required. ( bottom of SEEK button goes back)
5. after 5 seconds of "no input" the system will revert to normal, message changed.

that feature only works with some of the sound systems the 8th gen civics have, i have tried it on mine and it doesnt work

I have the EX and premium sound system.
The manual did not say it was exclusive feature. Sorry.
