Power source???

I want to put some lights in my car and need to no where i should tap into a constant 12v power source. i have a 2006 civic sedan. this may seem like a very basic question, but i can't figure out a place to do this without going straight to the battery. Any info would be great, thanks!

Re: Power source???

pick up a Haynes manual for your car. it has schematics to find the wires you need and a wealth of other knowledge. schematics are posted all over the forums here if you search for them also.

Re: Power source???

most people tap into the 12v socket plug. it gets hot when you turn the key to acc position and stays hot when car is on. you can do it for neons and leds and such for floor lighting.

sorry i am completely new at this. you would do this by... drilling a hole? i am trying to install some floor lights. they are led bulbs and they just end in wires...

Re: Power source???

you pull out the console piece, find the wires that plug into the socket, strip a lil bit of the plastic off, and then wrap your wires around + and - and tape it all up. basically borrow some of the 12v socket power and ground to run your own lights.
