Doors locking themselves

Doors locking themselves
Several times recently the doors have locked themselves.
This is not the repeated click-click-click that I experienced with my 1998 or 1994 before the solenoid gave out; just a one-time click.
Fortunately I was in a position to get the key.
Any ideas of things to check?
Anyone else have this happen?

they car is made to lock automatically in the case you park your car and forget to lock the doors. i believe it only kicks in if your car was running, you pull out the key, open the door and leave. it has something to do with opening the doors; sorry you guys probably think im dumb now. lol
