Rep Power: 0 Help - CVT fluid change, opened check plug first and didn't overflow over 4 bottles
Hi Guys, first time posting. Was doing a CVT fluid change and instead of opening the drain plug first, I opened the "check" "overflow" plug first and immediately closed it.
Now when I went back to put new fluid, I ran out of fluid and it didn't overflow after I put the shifter in PRNSL.
I'm wondering if I could just warm up the car and shift thru PRNSL and fill it till it overflows? Seems like too much came out?
Thanks.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Seems like too much came out?
It will drain about a gallon if you let it dribble 5 minutes or so......but those will keep on draining as long as you leave the plug out.... If you left it draining long enough it might drain far more than 4 quarts out as it slowly empties the torque converter....
This is why I drain this trans fluid into a gallon jug, so I know how much comes out and how much to put back in

(The check plug is called a "spill hole" for good reason)

This is 2015 Honda Civic Coupe CVT.
My only concern is overfilling it but I don't think it's possible due to overflow "check" hole.

This is a 14 or newer CVT trans? Make sure you used Hondas HCF2 fluid! (for non-hybrid cars)

This is how it's supposed to be done !!
