2011 civic fuel gauge

just bought this car from the original owner and the electronic feul gauge bars read lower than it should i think! it has 100,000 miles and the car is like brand new! runs flawless, we filled it up and drove 50 miles and we lost 3 bars ? this car is suppost to get 38 mpg hwy ?? could already need a sender ? thanks

Sounds like it's normal and you need to adjust yourself to the car.

And...your actual mileage may vary.

so there is not really anything to fix it ? a new sender would be the same ? so in other words they were like this when new ? and the elec bar gauge just will not be accurate....

You can't prove anything is broken, so no fix.
You've only shown you aren't familiar with the car yet.
This car is not like your old Pontiac, or whatever you used to drive.

The bar gauge has worked fine for millions of other people with identical cars, and not so identical cars.
