2007 Civic Si cranks but doesn't start
My 2007 Civic Si Sedan cranks but doesn't start. I took it to a mechanic and he says that there is no compression and the timing chain is broken and its gonna cost $2500 to fix. Is this reasonable or is there another problem?

If you are uncertain as to what the issue is, take it to a second shop; If they mention the same issues, choose the shop with the better reputation.
If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Did anyone take it apart far enough to confirm the "broken" part?
If the chain just jumped time by a tooth or two, that might be a straightforward timing chain job.
"Broken" may mean a lot more than just a chain job.....bent valves would be real likely. This sounds like where you may be at......I wonder if that 2500 estimate is including fixing that valve damage, or replacing the engine.
