Non-functioning CD Player

We have a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. About two weeks ago, after having no prior problems with the unit, the CD player stopped working. When you push the CD button on the console, no lights, sounds, or action. The radio still works however . . . which, it would seem,
rules out a fuse as a problem.

A related problem is that we have a CD in the player from the local library. Any thoughts about getting the CD out?

Re: Non-functioning CD Player

If that CD has a stick-on label, there are warnings about using those. The label can come off while inside the unit and really booger up the works.

My only suggestion is to pull the battery cable and see if it will "reboot" when you reconnect it and allow the disc to eject.
Make sure you have the radio code..

Otherwise, pull the unit out and send the unit in for repair. The repair facility will remove the disc and send it back with the repaired unit.

IF you can pull the radio out yourself, talk to the dealer parts department about the cost to have it sent in and repaired. Pulling it yourself should save an hour labor fee.

Re: Non-functioning CD Player

Ezone, your suggestion worked perfectly. The CD player is up and running again. However, one mystery remains. My wife is sure that she had put a CD into the player when it stopped working . . . but I am able to insert a new CD and have it play. Her CD is still missing . . . is there any possible place that the CD could have gone or is my wife just 'losing it'.

Re: Non-functioning CD Player

If you have a single disc player, (not a 6 disc changer) and you can insert and play a disc.........Then there can be no other disc in it.

Someone lost it. I dunno where, but.......there really isn't room for more than one and have it still work.
