FS: Xenarc 7" Touch Screen + Custom Bezel
FS: Xenarc 7" Touch Screen + Custom Bezel
*UPDATE*
Asking $260 shipped. You get the Xenarc 7" TSV in perfect condition, the custom molded bezel that will pop right into your civic dash (01-05), the original Xenarc box, cables, remote, etc. This is a great deal especially if your looking into a car PC setup or you just want to add a great touch screen monitor to your setup.
----------------------------------------------
Hey guys, I am selling my Xenarc 7" Touch Screen and the custom bezel I spent hours and hours molding for my 01 Honda Civic. I posted in the classifieds over on mp3car, but I thought I would post here as well. Hopefully, I can find another Civic 01-05 owner who is interested.
These pics do not do the whole thing justice, it looks awesome in person!

"I am sad to say I am selling my Xenarc 7" 700TSV and the Honda Civic bezel I made. I had this in my 2001 Honda Civic since last summer. It will fit a honda civic 01-03."
"The bezel is made out of high quality Automix 5895 Plastic Repair, NOT BONDO! The screen and bezel made it through summer and winter and looks as good as it did the day I finished it. I spent $320 for the Xenarc, $40 on the Automix, and $20 on a honda civic double din radio bezel. I slowly molded the Xenarc bezel to the radio bezel. I used the Xenarc's hardware to screw mount the LCD into the finished bezel. The finished product looks very OEM and clean. I received a TON of compliments on it, esp. once I told them I had made it myself. I also drilled a small hole into the bottom of my air vent and ran the IR receiver up there so I could control the monitor from the remote while driving.
I took really good care of the screen and only actually used it for about 4 months, it looks brand new, no scratches. I was having issues powering my PC and eventually didn't have the time to invest in the project. I am asking $285 shipped (USA) and am hoping I can find another Honda Civic owner who would appreciate all the time and effort I put into the bezel. It will be extremely simple to install, simply pop out your old radio and bezel and pop your new touch screen and bezel in. The monitor will come with the bezel, power cable, remote, and I can pull my VGA cable out of my car too if you need it. I will also ship it in the original box it came in.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to send them my way. I tried my best to snap a few pictures on my blackberry before I removed it. I didn't realize how hard it is to capture black objects. I also forgot to wipe the screen down before I snapped the pics. It looks way better in person! I also added a pic of the material I used to mold the bezel.
Thanks!
Justin"

Re: FS: Xenarc 7" Touch Screen + Custom Bezel
Willabee, I havent logged into aim in years, but I can if you let me know when you will be on. I usually have my gmail open most of the day, so if you have gmail we could chat on that. Now that I think about it, I think they integrated AIM into gchat, so that may work as well.
wontonamo, unless you made me a good offer on the bezel, I would like to keep them together.
emjay, this is just a monitor. I shouldn't say just a monitor, its a really good monitor/touch screen. Here is the spec sheet on it if you are interested:

It will also fit 2004-2005.

Mine looks just like yours, I'm interested in any benefits the Automix might have added and if it complicates removal/maintenance. I will also say this screen is bulletproof, nothing hurts it. I've had it in -40 celsius temperatures for weeks at a time and also in sun so hot I couldn't touch the screen without burning my fingers.
Re: FS: Xenarc 7" Touch Screen + Custom Bezel
. I can see where you hacked off the splitter that used to be across that radio bezel from here! The difference is that my bezels are molded together. I don't have a seam where my one bezel is pressed against the other. It may not seem worth it to you, but it was important to me to make it look like the screen SHOULD be there. Maybe its hard to tell in my pics. I was having trouble with reflections on the black. A close up comparison would really show the difference i think.
Thanks for the info.
Are you still asking why I took the time to mold the two bezels together or why I used Automix instead of Bondo? Bondo expands and contracts with temp. changes. It doesnt have much flexibility and it ends up cracking over time. The Automix flexes and is much closer to original bezel plastic material.

Re: FS: Xenarc 7" Touch Screen + Custom Bezel
Cool, makes sense now, bump for a quality screen.
And not that it matters, but I've heard people say that they thought their screens had shorter infrared receiver wries but it's just because they're bunched up inside the casing. When I took my casing apart, there was like 2 feet of more wire in there.

does this play music, video via usb cable or can i hook up my psp, ps3 or a dvd player to it?
It can be hooked up to a psp, ps3, or DVD player, but the main thing about this screen is that it is also a touch screen. You can hook it up to a PC/Laptop and run your media/GPS/emulators/internet/etc.
If you are looking to add a screen to your car, this is probably one of the best you can buy. I think dex would agree.
Thanks,
Justin
Re: FS: Xenarc 7" Touch Screen + Custom Bezel
And it's not my ad but I would like to point something else out, I hope I'm not hijacking. I notice people asking questions that make me think they're assuming this is a standalone player unit made for a car.........it's not. This screen originally looks like this:

Then your average car enthusiast comes along with a knife and cuts the **** out of the casing to make it fit in the dash and then creates a custom bezel from Automix to make it look stock and cover the cut up bezel. It sounds bad but if you ever want to go back to a desk mounted screen like in the picture, you can order a new bezel for it for like $20 but if you're going to be putting it in your car, here all the work is done for you already.
And now I feel like I'm invading....I'm out.
Re: FS: Xenarc 7" Touch Screen + Custom Bezel
Oh, one more thing, this screen requires power in the form of 110 AC volts or 12 DC volts......I hope I got that right. As you can see in the side picture, it can be plugged into a wall or a cigarette lighter. What I'm assuming he did (like me) is to hack up a molex connector and run the screen off a computer PSU in the car.
Just wanted to point out this screen will require an in car PC to power and use. To steal words from someone else's signature, you can't add this screen to your current system like an extra block to your Lego people house.
</important buyer information>

Re: FS: Xenarc 7" Touch Screen + Custom Bezel
thanks dex for adding more information to this thread. I have been getting a lot of questions and i think you covered a bunch of them with your posts.
Yep, I also hacked a molex connector to power the xenarc. That cable will be included for the buyer.
It does require 12v DC. You could probably connect it directly to your ignition line in your car, but car DC power tends to fluctuate up and down a little too much and I wouldn't want to take a chance of under or over powering the screen. By using the molex connector, you can plug it right into your PCs power supply. 110 AC would def. fry the screen though
. You could plug it into a wall outlet, but like a cell phone or any other DC powered gadget, it would use a transformer to convert the AC power to 12v DC.
Another advantage to using the PC for power is that the screen will come on and go off only when your PC is on/off.

Re: FS: Xenarc 7" Touch Screen + Custom Bezel
Not quite, you could hook this particular screen directly to the battery because it has a built in regulator to stop power spikes from reaching the screen itself. This is a quality built screen and worth the price.
