If you've decided to add a DVD in-dash or DVD changer to your existing (stereo) system, then the Pioneer DEQ-P7000 is exactly what you need to turn stereo into surround.
The DEQ-P7000 has built-in decoding for Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic. So you say you don't have a way to amplify the signals for surround sound, no problem--the DEQ-P7000 has a five-channel MOSFET50 amplifier built in. The amp supplies 50 watts (peak) to five channels, or you can use the very hefty 5-volt preamp outputs to supply a very high-quality signal to external amplifiers.

Forgot to list these other two parts- I have a NIB Electronic AV switcher, allows for an extra 3 input/outputs, IF remote controlled- Also have a 12V Car VCR that can fit under the seat, or in trunk, also NIB. Add $100.00 for the both of those to be included.
I don't have pics of everything- I can get a pic of the head unit, vcr and switcher- the xm tuner and 5.1 surround processor are currently installed under my seat- when these items sell, I will have a car audio place un-install everything.
