planning on 18's help needed

am planning on putting 18's on my civic
tire size is 225/40/18

i have allwaz had a problem with low profile tires....
the tires swell from the sides .. any idea y is this???
i have been running 215/45/17's so far and had problems with every tire i ever changed ..

this time i am planning on putting 18's but would want to take any risk since the tires are really expensive!.

air pressure in my tires are 24 ps i think. (or mayb psi)

and the road where i live have really big potholes everywhere

You should keep around 40 psi in your tires

40 is a tad high.... 32 is what most tire manufacutres suggest, you may want to check with manufacture of your tire.

40 would give you some nice MPG numbers, but will run the center of your tire out faster

40 will reduce camber wear too.
