Interior lights and instrument cluster lights not working
Hi can anyone help me I have a 98 Honda Civic lx and I took out the defroster switch and took the bulb out and I go to put it back in and none of my inter lights work what do I do??

Maybe you unknowingly turned the brightness dial all the way down? No?
find blown fuse for lights (fuse #30, 7.5 amp),
Unplug the defroster switch you were messing with
replace blown fuse,
see that other lights work again,
plug in switch
see if fuse blows again
find blown fuse for lights (fuse #30, 7.5 amp),

Well I checked the brightness and i turned it up and nothing tomorrow i'm going to go out there and look at the fuse. But my check engine light and turn signals and those lights work i just hope its a fuse.

Did you find blown fuse(s)?
Do the park lights on the outside of the car work?
Do you have a volt meter?

IF you had a volt meter you could pull out one of the dash light bulb sockets, then TEST each contact or each wire for that bulb and see if the positive is missing, or if the negative is missing. (with the lights turned on)
The answers to that test would lead to the next step:
If the positive is missing, you go toward the power source
If the negative is missing, you go toward the rheostat (dimmer dial)
On a wildass guess......You could pull out the rheostat and unplug it, make a jumper wire (or maybe use a paperclip) to jump the solid red wire to the black wire..
(DO NOT TOUCH THE RED/BLACK WIRE)
If the dimmer was the problem the lights should come on full brightness with the jumper in place.
The answers to that test would lead to the next step:
